Draft at Churchkey. Golden color, massive white head, solid lacing. Aroma of grass > citrus. Taste is intesne fresh pine with a decent but not overwhelming amout of bitterness. My favorite Loup Rouge of the night.

Churchkey, DC 10oz ($9): Pours a golden color with a big white head. Aroma is of piny and herbal hops. Taste has a bitter bite. This was advertised as a Belgian IPA, but to my mind it only had the slightest hints of any Belgian yeast. As another reviewer noted, this didn’t really scream Nelson Sauvin hops to me. Hops on forefront without too much malt backbone at all. The flavors in it are good, but this is not to my mind an outstanding beer.

Draft. Hazy light amber body, small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, grape, orange, light lime cantaloupe. Taste is moderately sweet, herbal, grape, some earthiness. Dry finish. Medium body, light resin, low carbonation.

Tap at Churchkey. A clear, bright yellow pilsener SRM pour with a modest, white head leaves sticky and webby lace. Nose is very fresh, ripe green pears. Taste is slick with some evident diacetyl: buttery, biscuity, slick, and overly rich with faux body added by diacetyl. Grassy hops come to balance with gritty cornbread and mild soap. Odd, definitely not offensive, but diacetyl has taken over whatever the end product was supposed to be; which seems like a Nelson Sauvin IPA; which this is not.

Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub, on April 28, 2011. Hazy blonde, small head. Hoppy bitter flavor of grapefruit, a little spicy. Bitter hop taste, hints of grapefruit, but not very juicy, nor sweet, very bitter aftertaste. A little bitter for my taste but it’s good!
