Just found my notes from long ago, it was a heavy drinking night...but I remember downing a number of these with pleasure.

Bottle 33cl bought at De Hopduvel in Gent. Pours hazy golden with a big white head. Nose: honey, malt, hints of hop, mostly floral. Taste: medium carbonation, floral in the beginning with hints of honey and a soapy feeling and some hints of malt and hops...

Robe blonde, mousse peu persistante.

Belle persistance.

750ml bottle [Thanx David!]. Cloudy, deep golden to amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Spicy yeasty and bready, grainy malty aroma, a Marmite touch. Taste is grainy malty, moderately sweet, hints of treacle and pear (’Grafschafter Birnenschmaus’). Too sweet, not overly rich - meh.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2016 75cl bottle at home (3 I 2016), shared with my family. This biological, strong ale is brewed in Lochristi for a cheese cooperative, which used to be located in the center of Ghent. Now you can find the store Het Hinkelspel in rural Sleidinge, East-Flanders. Change of location, yet no change in name. This beer should be called LousbergS, with an S at the end. For it is named after the street where the cheese cooperative was located in Ghent, the Lousbergskaai - the street with remembrance to the Ferdinand Lousbergs dynasty, a family of cotton lords. Hey, I’m an historian, so let me have this talk. Back to the brew. This is the first time I have it from a 75cl bottle. The beer has a brown, very cloudy iced tea look, with a beige, dirt foam. The nose has lots of sand, flowers (artificial though), ice tea (yes, again), citrus and oranges zeste, tea, and cheap honey. The taste really is special and distinctive. There are lots of dust and sweet flavours, together with many malt notes and an overload of honey, some flowery features, a massive yeast boost and eart. The carbonation is medium, maybe even soft to say so. This beer is not that bad, pretty much a taste of its own. But it also is nothing appealing. Which is too bad!

Previous rating: 33cl bottle @ De Warempel in Ghent. This beer should be named Lousbergs (with an ending S) - but I’ll forgive the brewer its historical mistake. A golden, even yellow blond with nice foam. Spicy beer with a very fruity mouth. Not really my kind of beer, I’m afraid.

Commissioned by a cheese shop in Ghent and named after the street where this shop is located (the Lousbergskaai). Intended to accompany certain cheeses. Thick creamy head over a warm orange blonde beer; aroma of orange, grapefruit, peach, mango, bread, caramel; fruity taste, lightly sweet in onset with spicy notes and supple caramel malty basis, dryer in the finish with floral hops but some plastic-like solvents as well. I bet this indeed goes well with some mature abbey cheese.

Fresh tasting Belgian blond beer. Grainy, yeasty and fruitishly sweet. Nice with some food.

33cl bottle @laudable coop Eetcafé Toreke, Rabot Hood, Gent. Minimally updated typical Belgian Strong ale/tripel, at least in design and smoother yeast profile. Weighty meadow flowers, oily malts and banana/ripe apple esters. Enjoyable sipping.

Bottle shared @ weekly tasting. Hazy yellow color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, yeasty, a touch of sweetness, some vegetables. Average body, a bit fizzy carbonation. Meh.
