COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented and maturated in oak vats. No adding yeast. Spontaneous fermentation because of adding freshly pressed Barbera grapes juice that contains the skins, directly from a viticulturist near Alba. Brewed once a year at vintage time obviously. Available in 375 ml or 750 ml bottles.

375 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, brewed 2010. ABV is 8%. Cloudy dark red colour, pink head disappears completely after a minute. Strong and intense vinous aroma, notes of red wine vinegar, oak and farmhouse. The flavour is also vinous, tart and medium sour, oaky notes. Very moderate hops. Does not taste as strong as 8%, nor by my own buzz-o-meter.

Wenig kirschiger Antrunk mit herben Noten. Die Säure ist hierbei leider nebensächlich. Das Bier ist sehr trocken, zum Ende ist die Frucht kaum mehr vorhanden. 8/8/8/7//8

Pours a lovely beaujolais shade of red; thin head. Awesome aroma, delicate, and buggy and woody like Avery’s Depuceleuse or Dyhos Dactylion. Very dry, austere, almost dry hopped and horseblankety like Orval. Yes, a little watery, crackery like Bruery’s berliner weisse. Hard to believe this is 8%. Light berry flavor in front (cranberry?), tannic and a little bitter in the end. A fine beer, but would be better with more aggressiveness. And it’s only $20 because it’s Italian..

Tap @ BBF. Dark reddish purple color with virtually no head, just a small pink collar. Aroma is a little dry but with a lot of different frutis. A composite of melon, candy, sweet cherry, light touch of vinegar, brettanomyces, sugar and some peppery spices, winegum and blackberrries. Taste is very sweet with a pleasant sour balance in the finish. Some barnyard and more leathery notes but restricted to the background. Very enjoyable and quite interesting.

Medium sourness and a some sweetness, finish is also medium sour. I would have expected a bit on the palate. Overripe fruits to the nose. Dark brown colour with red tones, off-white head. (Bottle)

Bottle at Blue Monk - big thanks to Mike! Wood in nose is more restrained than the 2 other loverbeer beers I tried with some cherries & malt, alcohol. Flavor is sour with nice maltiness, cherries, light medicinal/alcohol/hairspray.

Pour at the Borefts Bier Fest 2011. Sour, vinegar in the nose, great sour flavor in this one. Not overbearing.

375 ml bottle. Dark purple brown colour. Fizzy head at first, but disappears quickly. High carbonation level. Slightly funky nose with grapes and raspberries. Acidic flavours with grape meat and red berries. Hints of bread. Fruity. Nice balance between the funky grape acidity and the malt. Interesting cross between wine and beer.
