Cloudy amber beer. No head. Light sour nose. Crisp light palate. Pleasantly lightly sour with a little tangy grape tartness. A little lactose sweetness in there as well. Finishes crisp. A sweetish winey sort of beer and unlike anything I’ve had before. Crisp, tart and sweet and unusual. Could drink loads of this!

Little cloudy red to rustbrown beer, small to no head. Aroma: sour, wood, earthy, tobacco, bit musty, cork. MF: no carbon, light to medium body. Taste: fruity start, strawberries, red currants, little bitter, tobacco, dry woody, pretty sour. Aftertaste: lemony, berries, bit vinous, bitter taninnes, some forest fruits.

On tap at Moeder Lambic. Light ruby body with medium head. Nose is sour and fruity. Also very sour in the taste. Not my thing. But done well nonetheless. Stays plenty sour well into the sour end.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic Italian Beer Festival ’12.
Acajou assez foncée opaque, col pétillant sur un fond rosé foncé.
Arôme de fruits, raisins bien présent avec ce léger bouquet vinaigre.
En bouche, un bel effort de LoverBeer pour une fermentation spontanée, la bière comme en fût l’avis à table rappelle pas mal une Cantillon Gambrinus avec une petite finition en manque.
On note sur le palais ce profile boisé et une belle aigreur vinaigrée qui vient s’y ajouter, le tout assure à donner un beau profile fruité de raisins.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2012 25 cl. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas // Italian Beer Festival // apparently wild fermented in good Italian wine barrels with local wine grapes // always up for more wild fermentation beers // light touch darker raspberry, mine had a little raspberry coloured head in the beginning but only very briefly, as a rule this doesn’t seem to have any head at all // smell is a touch muted, touch old cellar raspberries, berries, touch dirty water, fruity but muted, touch dusty, old & tart // taste is muddled in front, no clarity, lightly rotting raspberries, stale water, old cellar, touch fruitiness, messy wine grapes, touch fruity upfront but also muddled, going into touch more unwanted wild stuff than what is common, finish carries a zingy vinegar kind in there & very wine-rich, more than plain vinous, in the back this really starts resembling wine // body thickness is good for its kind, little carb // not bad but still feels a bit muted and accidental, not fully integrated, could definitely improve quite a bit with experience, considering the youth of the brewery, this is definitely solid // I got some info about this beer, apparently the “wild fermenation” here is not the same as we known in Belgium but is done by adding the grapes to the worth & the grapes cause the wild fermentation, which is quite an interesting idea and process

Bottle, 375ml, at Patricks. A lightly pinkish white head of moderate size forms over a lightly unclear ruby colored body. The aroma has a distinct dusty cellar touch, followed by a touch of vinegar and berries. Sour in the mouth, much more influenced by the dusty cellar than I would prefer. It is probably the tannins from the grapes kicking in. Berries and sourness too. Medium to full body, quite dry. Lasting finish with berries and sourness. A nice one, although a bit special. 120317

Pretty sour, but nicely balanced.

Pours hazy brown/amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, red grapes and red wine. Taste is light to medium sweet and light sour with a long redwine, fruity, dry and sour finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very ruddy with a slightly pinkish beige head. Mild oak aroma with some reddish berry. Near med body. Flavor is oaky, red berry and a little bit sour. Finishes fairly dry and oaky.
