Fermented and maturated in oak vats. No adding yeast. Spontaneous fermentation because of adding freshly pressed Barbera grapes juice that contains the skins, directly from a viticulturist near Alba. Brewed once a year at vintage time obviously. Available in 375 ml or 750 ml bottles.

Bottle, 375ml, at Patricks. A lightly pinkish white head of moderate size forms over a lightly unclear ruby colored body. The aroma has a distinct dusty cellar touch, followed by a touch of vinegar and berries. Sour in the mouth, much more influenced by the dusty cellar than I would prefer. It is probably the tannins from the grapes kicking in. Berries and sourness too. Medium to full body, quite dry. Lasting finish with berries and sourness. A nice one, although a bit special. 120317

Bottle 375ml vintage 2010 @ Patricks Pub og Restaurant, Kristiansand
Pours clear deep amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes vinegar, grapes and yeast. Taste is light to medium sweet and light sour with a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft. This taste more like wine than beer.

a very clean-flavored Flemish red (lacking the vomit-and-cheese-like flavors of Duchesse de Bourgogne) with Barbera grape must. very vinous, a bit sweeter and less tannic/dry than I was hoping, but still very true grape flavors and tart red fruit notes.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2015 375 ml bottle @ Patricks. Almost clear, deep red body with a disappearing off-white head. Aroma is fruity with hint of yeast and wood and light funky. Flavor is sour fruity, some acidity, cherry, wood and some bitterness, rather vinous. Very nice body and a fruity and funky aftertaste. Not the everyday sour beer, quite original, and I like it.

Sampled from 0.375 L bottle. Looks nice; Glowing red with a pink-shaded blond top. Fresh and inviting fruit aroma. Grapes and raspberries, lemon and ruhbarb. Fruity flavor as well, with grapes in the lead. More sour than tart, yet easy on the palate. Funky, notes of lactic acids. Mild sparkling carbonation. Alcohol well hidden. Finishes dry and sourish fruity. A very nice one.
