3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Brewed in 2011 bottle) Pours very reddish with very little head to speak off. The aroma has has lots of red wine with tannic traits, some malt in the background and mild citrus. Pretty full bodied with a thickness to the body and very little carbonation to speak of. The flavor starts off with dry red wine, grape juice, fresh cut grass, earthiness and pepper spice. I’m sure this is beer, but not a lot of beer traits going on. The finish shows more beer aspects with some maltiness and some grassy/spicy hops residing in the back. Really enjoyable and quite drinkable for an 8% beer.

Bottle at GBG Ö&W 2014.
A bit hazy reddish/brown with a small head. Aroma of funk, grapes, wood and vinegar. Similar taste, also some berries. Dry and vinous. I liked this balanced beer. Must try more from this brewery.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dark purple with no head. Nose is very vinous and tarty. Very wine like. Taste reminds me of a slightly easier going version of Cantillon Saint Lamvinus. Very wine driven with plenty of tart and light sourness. Loaded with plum and heavier berries. Works nicely. Solid but not a great deal of ’beer’ focus here

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas (Bruxelles). Hazy purple/red with a medium fully lasting off-white/pinkish head and some lacing. Aroma is dominated by grapes along some winey notes, red fruits, nice sourness and wooden notes. Taste is a little less interesting than the nose because there’s a tad too much of a tannic presence... but there’s also the same good things as the aroma: juicy grapes, grape skin, red wine, red fruits, wood and light vanilla. Moderate sourness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Dry/tannic finish. Winey. Grape forward. Tasty. With some minor adjustments to the taste, it could be a great beer.
