COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented and maturated in oak vats. No adding yeast. Spontaneous fermentation because of adding freshly pressed Barbera grapes juice that contains the skins, directly from a viticulturist near Alba. Brewed once a year at vintage time obviously. Available in 375 ml or 750 ml bottles.

A: The beer pours amber in color with a finger or two of white head. S: Smells pretty funky. A bit of sweat and musty funk, along with some oak. There is a strong fruit character to it, almost like raspberries and grapes. Some light grass and lemony tartness. T: Pretty fruity with a touch of booze. Almost like a fruit liquer, actually. Moderately tart with notes of green apple and lemon zest. Some mild malt, grass, and wet, musty oak. M: Medium in body with carbonation that is medium to high. O: Not really my thing, but compared to some Italian beers, pretty good.

Sampled at Gothenburg Beer & Whisky Festival, April 11th. Pours ed with brown streaks and a low, light red head. Aroma is tart, with grapes, funk, red currant and blackberries. Taste is vinous with grapes and red currant. Mouthfeel is quite tart and sprightly. Aftertaste is mainly grapes with some funk. Good stuff.

Bottle at GBG Ö&W 2014. A bit hazy reddish/brown with a small head. Aroma of funk, grapes, wood and vinegar. Similar taste, also some berries. Dry and vinous. I liked this balanced beer. Must try more from this brewery.

On tap at Birratrovo in Como A surprending beer...or something between beer and wine. Very drinkable despite its 8% alcohol

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dark purple with no head. Nose is very vinous and tarty. Very wine like. Taste reminds me of a slightly easier going version of Cantillon Saint Lamvinus. Very wine driven with plenty of tart and light sourness. Loaded with plum and heavier berries. Works nicely. Solid but not a great deal of ’beer’ focus here

On tap @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas (Bruxelles). Hazy purple/red with a medium fully lasting off-white/pinkish head and some lacing. Aroma is dominated by grapes along some winey notes, red fruits, nice sourness and wooden notes. Taste is a little less interesting than the nose because there’s a tad too much of a tannic presence... but there’s also the same good things as the aroma: juicy grapes, grape skin, red wine, red fruits, wood and light vanilla. Moderate sourness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Dry/tannic finish. Winey. Grape forward. Tasty. With some minor adjustments to the taste, it could be a great beer.

This beer pours a really nice purpleish red color. Sour and funk, acidic, some wine and vinous character. Last tick for at least a week, goin on a much needed liver detox.
