"L’utilizzo, unico nel suo genere, di susine damaschine rende questa straordinaria birra ricchissima di calde e sensuali note fruttate che sanno contrastare le nette, seppur mai troppo aggressive, punte di acidulo e di citrico. Sorprende, nel palato, un equilibrio notevole, inusuale per birre con un PH così basso, equilibrio assicurato da una notevole pienezza e da un fruttato così imponente da farsi ricordare a lungo." - Lorenzo Dabove in arte Kuaska

2012 edition. It pours a rusty red murky colour with a 2 finger head of foam. I get semi sweet plums with a rather massive nose of Brett. Some cider like qualities here to with a dose of vanilla. The taste is more dominated by Brett than perhaps I like but the fruitiness is quite tasty and the finish is pretty darned dry. Malt wise, I get earthy notes, pretty much all I can pull out. Medium body and carbonation. Nice mouth feel. The Brett wears on my palate after a few sips but I’d hardly say this isn’t a very good beer, because it is.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish-copper coloured. Small head. Sourish-berry aroma. Starts sweet-fruity, more and more sourish notes, not too intense.Finish milder, well balanced, malty. Nice!

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, blue session. 02/05/2014. Aroma is really nice plum and peach. Orange amber colour, no head to speak of. Flavour is nice tart peach, citric acid and some floral aspects. Palate is some acidic tart, medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Decent fruit character.

Bottle split at the Manny G tasting, acquired at Domus Birrae a few years back, 28/06/14. Murky reddish orange/amber with a good sized beige head that eventually dissipates to nyadaa. Nose is bitter fruit skins, rotting orchard tones, earthy, straw, pears. Taste comprises dark berry fruits, straw, earthy, stoned fruit mash, light woody dankness. Medium bodied, fine carbonaion, acidic rinse in the close. Ok sour, not particularly challenging on the palate though, prefer a little more depth than this one offers.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky deep amber with a minimal off-white head. The nose is woody, wet leaf, mild acidity, red grape and vanilla. The taste is tart, tangy, some acidity, berry skin, sherbet, vinous, wood and earth with a dry, and some acidity on finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A touch acidic for me, but decent enough.

375 ml bottle from Eataly (€ 8,50) in Torino, June 2014. Brewed in 2012. Murky reddish brown with fizzy head that disappears immediately. Aroma... wow! It’s like something from my long dead grandma’s basement, forgotten about and found years after bottled. This is plum and apple compote with a couple of slices of pear dropped in the mix, also some pickled pumpkin with cuminseeds, plus a slight touch of hay. Tastes extreeeemely sour, like raw apples or rather straight lime juice. It’s got a very homey feel to it. Soft carbonation, mediumish body. Dry finish with a killer (lime juice) sourness in the throat. God why don’t I have a pal here to share this with. It goes down really slow and to be honest with some serious effort. Though I admit I’m getting fond of it after a few dozen sips. Can’t really think of a good occasion to enjoy this that doesn’t take place around when the Knights of the Round Table roamed about.

2012 vintage. Cloudy orange/brown pour with minimal tan head. Perfume and plums on the nose with floral notes. Quite sour on the palate with those plum and perfume notes shining through. There’s also lacto and wood on the palate. Super great and interesting stuff.
