Oak amber ale. Fermented and maturated only in oak vats. The name "Madamin" is a piedmontese word meaning "young lady". Available in 375 ml or 750 ml bottles. ---
Oak Amber Ale. 5,7%

Murky brown, has a Liefmans-esque fruity tartness w subtle chocolatey malts. Acetic, slightly astringent bit with stone fruit bitterness, vinous notes, and other fun stuff. Serious, proper Belgian sour.

Draught in Rome during a visit in mid December. Reminded me of a Rodenbach in many ways: colour for a start, hazy though, then the aroma and taste. Maybe a little more sour, but it wasn’t too sour, even for me (I’m not really a sour puss sort of drinker). Pleased I had it, but one was enough.

On tap at Brower’s in Fremont. Listed as 6.2% ABV at pub. Pours a figgy cherry brown, almost like a diaphonous cola. Little surface foam is light tan and carries little appeal. Nose is dry oak, sour apple, hints of yeast (?) like a French yeast - a bit nutty. Interesting. Up front cherry, moderately tart and slightly sweet. The yeast character is in here as well, kinda suits the sweetness a bit and offers a more complex approach to the style than many Oud Bruin’s I’ve had. Seems to cut the oak dryness and bitterness I sometimes experience and dislike in the style. Full bodied and almost creamy with a slightly dry finish. This is an interesting beer and nice to try. Opaque dark ruby color, good creamy beige head, lace. Tart, fruity, earthy aroma. Medium-bodied. Fruity-berryish, tartish flavor but also some cellary notes. Tart cherry aftertaste. Decent.

2011 Vintage
Tasted on 11/25/13 from a capped 330mL bottle purchased at Holy Grale. Pours hazy burnt orange with some yeast chunks settling at the bottom of my glass, and a very thick tan head that slowly recedes to thick, uneven lace. The nose is sour with some red fruit notes, plenty of citrus, and some brown sugar malt with a touch of vanilla/caramel oak. The flavor is fairly light, and quite funky, leaning toward some oxidation, with the citrus sour notes, malt, and barrel all coming through, although a bit more diminished. The body is light with fizzy carbonation and a medium sour, funky, and brown sugar malt finish.
