3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 SlackerMads (533) - DENMARK - MAY 15, 2013
Bottle, 2011 edition. Black with a medium sized diminishing beige ok lacing head. Cold coffee, chalk, burnt/ashtray, oak/bark, cocoa and indeterminable spices in the aroma. Taste is medium sweet, light/medium bitter and acidic. Tannins seem dominant giving a dry and light puckering mouthfeel that takes a few sips to get adjusted to. Medium body, oily texture, near flat carbonation. Pretty special slow drinking brew that points in many directions, but I kind of like it. Probably not meant to be grabbed randomly out of the fridge like I just did, thinking I could drink it while vacuum cleaning. Now I’ve just been drinking and writing this for the last twenty minutes instead. Make that thirty minutes. Damn you LoverBeer, my plan was perfect until you showed up. Coffee and fernet, I need to try that tomorrow. The bums at the local drinking den will be impressed for sure.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dreadnord (1000) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 8, 2013
In drinking this beer, one must look to the label to see what the brewer was trying to achieve. I think he did it and did it well. The pour is dark and black with a small brown head. The nose is intense coffee, spice with hints of cherry and banana. The taste is sweet with a good amount of bitter and a hont of tart from the large amount of coffee. The mouthfeel is sharp at first but creams our, the body is heavy and the finish is long. Well done Valter.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheBeerGod (4642) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - DEC 14, 2012
Bottle. Neck label shows "Brewed in 2009". Black pour with a short, foamy brown head. Aroma is rather slightly sour and funky with coffee notes and roasted malt. Taste is slightly tart fruit, coffee notes, toasted grains, roasted malt, funky yeast notes and light herbal notes. Body is soft with nearly zero carbonation and finishes dry. Ends with more coffee, roasted malt, herbs, toasted grains, tart fruit and light funky yeast. Not bad!
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2012
Courtesy of Jan (fonefan); vintage 2009, 3 years old, batch PMER01-1210 Black color, small brown color. Deep aroma of roasted malts, cardboard, phenol, light sourness, hints of fruits, nice pungent coffee hint. Smooth mouthfeel, strong roasted malt flavor, coffee, with pleasant underground acidity, and a touch of liquorice that may be coming from the china bark. Rather dry. Complex, although not my favorite blend.

375ml bottle. Pitch black colour with average, frothy to creamy, lasting, lacing, beige head. Sweet chocolately aroma with a vinous touch, fruity notes of grapes, hints of cooked vegetables. Taste is minimally sourish, dry dark chocolately, notes of fruit parings, a leather touch; some chocolate in the finish. More or less simply sourish and leather-like with way too light a body to compensate. Botch.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Foffern (747) - Bodø, NORWAY - JUL 16, 2012
Bottle at home. Vintage 2009. Has a pitch black colour with a medium brown head. A bit weird aroma with a lot of roast along with tobacco, heavy coffee and some port and alcohol. What a taste! No balance! Crazy flavour of coffee, leather, milk chocolate, and some sourness in the end. Aging for three years didn’t do the trick. Or, how does this beer taste when it’s fresh!? Soft and slick mouthfeel, and medium bitterness. The beer gets a bit better after a couple of mouthfuls but is pretty special.
