Bottle, courtesy of OleR. More or less black, with a big, creamy, tan head. Lightly peppery on the nose, but mostly roasted and chocolatey with some coffee and a touch of hoppyness. Dry, roasted mouthfeel, full-bodied. Coffee, chocolate and some hoppy bitterness. Lasting and dry. Really pleasant I think, could easily drink this every now and then. 111123

Bottle enjoyed at home
Pours pitch black, massive dense espresso head that after a while falls down to a 1/2 cm head that stays forever. Totally awsome appearance. Aroma of roasted malts, peat and hints of coffee. Taste is full malted, alcohol, earthy notes and coffee, very little sweetness. Feel is a bit to watery for a real IS. Finish has a very nice bitterness. Totally a worthy attempt to the style.

Bottle, lotto PPAP02-0510. Pours a beautiful black, with a thick dark head. Mellow aroma of roasted malts, liquorice and chocolate, and notes of tar and coffee. Flavour is malty and has a lot of liquorice, but also some burned peat and chocolate. It has a good sweetly finish with chocolate, toffee and burned malts. A pleasant surprise!

0,33 L bottle, vintage 2010. Entierly black. Big frothy choco colored head. Bold aroma of hard roasted dark malts. Yet fairly rounded with notes of cocoa beans, and touch of vanilla. Well roasted, medium strong malt body. Mellowing sweetness with vanilla tones. Distinct bitterness all the way throughout. A rock solid IS.

Bottle. Black, with a thunderous head of brown suds. Delicious aroma of coffee and chocolate. Pretty standard RIS fare so far. As it warms, it shows an earthy, woody side as well. On the flavour side of things, it’s a rich coffee and dry, bitter chocolate deal, with a slightly smoky, burnt and ashy finish. A little thin in the finish, but pretty darn flavourful and massive for 7%. Medium to light body, relatively calm carbonation. It’s a good, lighter IS. I do feel like it would have been better with a little more of everything.

Imperial stout un po’ atipica e di bassa la gradazione alcolica, l’ho trovata buona ma non all’altezza della media.
