Lovibonds Dark Reserve No.3 started out as a rich and luscious porter, crafted with a blend of seven malted barleys. Every year this brew takes our brewer and brewery to breaking point. After extended conditioning in the brewery we patiently aged this beer in wooden barrels that first contained that world famous Tennessee Whiskey, then our Dark Reserve No.2 The result is a stunning marriage of two crafts. Limited to 500 bottles

Backlog rating. Bottle. It pours a clear mahogany color with small beige head. Aroma is sweet and tart at the same time, with dark fruits, red tangy berries, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is also medium sweet upfront and tangy fruity later on. More notes of raspberries, chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, red wine. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, very nice

Keg at Lovibonds. It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasted coconut, vanilla, oak, cocoa, bourbon, red grape and mellow roast. The taste is tangy fruit, berry, jam, light roast, toast, berry yoghurt, wood, earth, ash and light alcohol warmth with a dry finish. Med-full body and moderate carbonation. Barrel-aging has definitely tanged this up, but its still pretty tasty.

Keg at brewery, 20th April 2013, in the beer garden, first day of spring! This is a beer full of flavour, some smoke and ash and you get the jack Daniels taste of the barrels, with a pretty sour back end that lingers, tasty all round

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2013 Had this in brewery April 2013. I had this again in bottle at Jan & Charlotte’s, Ulfborg, Denmark in company of Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella and Loz 20.05.13 Pours very dark brown with tan head, a light fruity sourness with some vanilla on nose. Tangy in mouth, maybe a little plastic at back, sour, fruity and with little sweetness. Really tangy fruitiness the whisky ageing is rather secondary, you can certainly tell that this has been aged close to the Sour Grapes. Interesting and pretty decent. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
