Bottle that Loz picked up from the brewery & shop for me 31.12.10 consumed 02.01.11 Pours mid amber with a touch of haze. Really soapy hops on the nose. There is some fruitiness and a reasonable bitter bite but yet I find the soapy hops present on the nose come through and dominate the mouth as well, it’s ok but its a bit too fairy liquidy for me at times. 3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg at the brewery. It pours clear amber with medium white head. The nose is earth, wood, brown bread and hay. The taste is wood, earth, brown bread, light bitterness, pithy citrus and touch of spice with a dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid session ale, but not their best.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2011 Cask Conditioned at Reading BF 2006. Amber. Odd malt/malt extract aroma that wears off to something far nicer after a few minutes. Flavour is mostly malt, a touch thin and some dryness with not much bitterness. Fruit juice and tannins in the background. Starts off a bit sketchy but a pretty good ordinary session bitter when you get in to it, but doesn’t remind me of the classic Henley Brakspear Bitter at all. (3/5)
Bottle, from an old notebook around 2008. A bottle of Henley Gold was opened just before which ended up over the table and was clearly infected. With that in mind I was prepared for this to be the same and opened it over the sink but it still ended up over the wall and floor. Two clearly infected (different) beers out of 3 from the same brewer just shouldn’t happen. If this was really being brewed by Old Luxters at the time it could explain it. (0.5/5)
