Keg at Hanging Bat. Slight haze. Yellow golden colour, small white head. Big lemon, aloe Vera, soft wood nose. Slight lager malt twang to the front, then lots of layers of sour complexity. Really potent sherbety tart finish. Very nice indeed.

Keg at IndyManBeerCo, 2012. I’ve been looking forward to trying this for some time and it did not disappoint. It pours hazy golden-amber, with a medium off-white head. The nose is fresh lemon, tart white grape, chamomile, Aloe Vera, citric notes and wood. The taste is sour wheat, lemon, red grapefruit, white grape, Aloe Vera, pithy, vinous, light acidity and wood, with a dry, lightly tart finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A soft and delicate sour ale. Nice level of complexity. Delicious!

On cask at The Independent Manchester Beer Convention. Pours a blonde colour with a fair white head. A lovely sour, vinous aroma with balsamic vinegar, wet cardboard, oak, lemon and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Nice and dry to finish. Great!

On tap at the Rake. Clear bright gold beer amber brew. Little white head. Sourish grapey nose Duh! Light crisp palate. A little dry. Mild tartness - enough to tantalise the taste buds. Some minerally spritziness. Tangy finish. Nice drinkable sour, vaguely ciderish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap - The Rake, London. Poured with a very fine, fading white head atop a clear, golden yellow body. Funky, lemon, sour green apples with a good background vanilla sweetness and perhaps some woodiness. A pleasant amount of sourness on the tongue - not quite mouth puckering but there’s definite bite without becoming overbearing - with lemon, white wine and funky apple. Finishes with a good dry apple peel bitterness. Dry with medium carbonation and a lightish body. Good duration to the tang, crisp and very drinkable.

From tap at the Rake, thanks to Mes for a pour of this. Pours clear and golden yellow with no head. Aroma is fruity and mild acidic. Barnyard smooth and slight acidic. Acidic, fruity and barnyard aromatic flavoured. Shivering sour. Ends dry and acidic. Will likely get even better with some longer aging.
