750ml bottle from the brewery shop, my 4000th rating. A bright pale amber pour with a white head that quickly drops from a finger to a thin coating; the aroma is a mix of fresh grapes and slightly musty fermenting wine; and the taste matches with crisp grapes and some very tart gooseberries. This finish is dry and disappointingly thin, but apart from that it’s great to find an English brewery experimenting with beers such as this.

Pale gold color with a sticky white head. White wine, moldy hay and funk in the nose. Sweet tart flavors with grape, berry, acid, some oak, and a long tingly sour finish. I do not like sour beers and this is one of those.

[10/4/13] Bottle sample at a tasting at chriso’s place. Clear golden. Nice funky aroma with oak, some barnyard, lemony notes and a pleasant fruitiness. Sourish flavor of fresh fruits, some funk and a light lemony edge. Rather light-bodied. Lovely and easy-drinking.

750ml bottle #266/500. Clear gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is an initial blast of wine barrel followed by softer pillows of grape. Taste is surprisingly complex and sour with lovely grape, apple and honey notes. I hope more UK breweries start experimenting with sours if the results can be this good.
