This beer started as a fermentation mistake with our flagship Henley Gold, giving us the sourness and drinkability of a Berliner Weisse. It tasted great but we thought it would be interesting to add a wild character to the beer. we filled used Frencg Pinot Noir barrels with the sour beer and a host of other good bacteria and wild yeast, then closed the door.

Bottle picked up at brewery but consumed at Jan & Charlottes, Ulfborg, Denmark. Had this in company of Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella, Loz and Morten 19.05.13 Pours light/mid yellow with nice white head. A good beer, clearly this was always going to come second best when compared with the other sour we had this evening, and yet it was still pretty good especially considering the back story of how this came about. Sour but this has a relatively short finish, the zappy, tangyness is there at the start but a touch muted with a little lemony biscuit on the end. I enjoyed this and the barrel ageing softens this considerably. Good beer. A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov16 3.9

Bottle @ RBWG 2016. Thanks, Colin! Golden beer with a tall white head. Pretty standard blonde sour characteristics to this. A lot of lemon, grape skin, and grass. It’s a bit heavy on the apple and Sweet Tarts. Hints of tropical fruits like pineapple and star fruit. Minimal funk. Fine enough beer.

Keg at Brewdog Camden as ’Lovibonds Pinot Noir Barrel Sour Grapes’. Orange, still, pretty clear, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is vinegary, honey and lemon, some wine. Body is medium to light, spritzy carbonation, slightly foamy, tooth-coating and enamel-stripping. Taste is rounded sour fruits, tart lemon, softly woody, dates, red grape finish. Nice flavour, pity about the palate on these sour beers. Was licking my teeth for a few hours after this one.

Bottle from Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Nose is lemon, light funk, lemon peel, tart, urine, lightly sweet, light grain, soda. Taste is grapefruit and lemon rind tangy bitter citrous fruit, light, soft on the palate beer, with moderate tartness and some lovely soft red wine vinous notes, little cheese rind. Nice English lambic which whilst only moderately tart and lightly funky, has a lovely balance of flavours and a unique red wine vinous softness.
