Stark Dark Wheat Appearance: Deep reddish brown, foamy light tan head, but it doesn’t last, cloudy. Aroma: Bubblegum, some spice like clove, fig. Flavour: Licorice or dark fruits, slight bitterness, pumpernickel. Mouthfeel: Lively carbonation front and centre, well balanced, some yeasty herbally dryness in the finish. Overall: Decent dunkelweizen, exceptional by Asian standards!

33cl bottle purchased in Bali. Medium sized head which very quickly dissipates. Aroma of fruits - raisins, banana, and earthy malt notes. Chocolate brown in colour Heavily carbonated. Light banana on the palate. Sour aftertaste - very acidic. Disappointing.

33cl bottle thanks to omhper. Color is brown and head is quite big. Carbonation is medium. Taste is quite sour. Infection detected! Aroma is caramel, chocolate, light coffee, vinegar. Acidity all over :-(

From the bottle, purchased in Discovery, and to break up the amount of lager I’d consumed in Bali. It’s faultless to look at once poured. Excited, it produces a good 2 inches of hefty, rocky foam atop a cloudy, fiery chestnut body flowing with fine carbonation. Aroma is slightly fruity, sherryish and leads headstrong towards rum and raisin icecream. Light in body with a dominant roasted and cocoaish malt mid-palate and tannic, malty backend. Dry and dusty, subtly phenolic finish; a hint of pepper, burnt toast, rum balls, twiggy bark. Odd, yet it comes together neatly. Credit where credit is due, it is not too bad a drop!! Horrible beer. Possibly infected, or possibly mistreated. In any case, give it a miss in Bali, even if you are desperate for something other than lager. Big waste of money.

Bottled in Jakarta. Cloudy nut brown, rich firm head. Aroma of lemon and caramel. Sour with light-medium body and spritzy mouthfeel. Citric acid, caramel and chalk in a sour green apple finish. Some caramel flavours tries to fight back the massive infection.

bottle (brought back from Bali from a friend). Poured clear dark red-amber. Initially large frothy tan head. Light peppery yeasty aroma. Mouthfeel is crisp with carbonation. Malt flavour, clove and banana notes, tart citrus finish. Tastes like home brew.

330 ml bottle, from Hardy’s supermarket, Sanur, Bali, Indonesia. Brown colour, huge off-white to beige head. Aroma of brown malts and brown bread, also notes of caramel, cloves and banana. The flavour is fairly refreshing, with the same notes as in the aroma, also some citrus. Slightly acidic and yeasty finish. Minimal hops.
