Draft at GBBF ’06. Golden colour with a white head. Faint aroma. Slight sourness. Not very bitter. Nothing remarkable here, but immensely easy to drink
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 25, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2011 Impressions in the shade of the Kellerwald:
-Dry, wooden, herbal hops prance over the krug, fulfilling a most seductive kellerbier fantasy.
-Frothy foam remains long enough to protect the unfiltered golden straw colour.
-The creamy carbonation and full-bodied maltiness are stout supporters of the beer’s flavor spectrum.
-A terrific herbal, citrusy hop flavor dominates the loose barley sugars.
-Devout herbal hop bitterness never nags, but stays for the duration of the show.
-Peppery hops provide nice bitterness, with earthiness in the aftertaste.
-Light astringence accompanies a mineral character.
-Malts aren’t as tight and polished as Witzgall Landbier or Rossdorfer Lagerbier. Hops are not as snappy as Knoblach Lagerbier’s either. But this remains a very enjoyable pint of Ungespundetes.
On tap at the Rappenkeller, Forchheim, at the brewery gasthof, and from bottles, bought at the brewery.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2005 Light brown colour, quite good head, malty aroma, quite aromatic body, with a hint of caramel, well-balanced, a slight pils-touch in the finish, after all a quite good brew. --- 25.03.04
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MoritzF (7835) - Bochum, GERMANY - SEP 8, 2005
(bottle) Golden colour with a medium creamy bubbling white head. Distinctive herbal hoppy aroma with a shy fruity (grape fruit) note. Soft bitter flavour, medium body, low but pleasant carbonation and mouthfeel. Malty start with an aromatic and tasty bitterhoppy and very dry, almost astringent and lasting finish. One of the best of its kin.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bierkoning (9035) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUN 26, 2005
Deep golden color, small but steady head. Bottle, bought at the brewery. Hoparoma. Strong hopflavor with notes of wood and chewing gum. Dry out effect. Grassy with a hint of metal. Long hopbitter aftertaste. Low on carbon. The quality is undeniably there in this tasty beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2005
Bottled. Clear golden colour, medium head. Grassy, herbal, hoppy aroma with some vague hints of yeastiness. Tastes pretty herbal and hoppy. Quite intense. A hint of fruitiness comes in later, then it ends fairly dry and with a lasting bitterness. For fans of very hoppy lagers, it must be a revelation. For me it´s really good. Thanks to pivnizub for this nice treat.

An orange beer with a fine dense white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and grassy. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of grain and grass - leading to a dry finish. Nothing special.
