dark brown color. Malty. Lots of chocolate malt. Decent and one of the better dunkles I had in Germany

An average dark. This Löwenbräu dunkel is good if you see it as a mass produced beer. But it is not something extraordinary.

ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2011
Vom fass @ Löwenbräu Keller, München, Deutschland.
Produced up a translucent, shimmering chestnut brown with intermittent carbonation. Typically big, rocky off-white crown is mostly lasting and weaves a messy lace. Dusty, dirty and earthy malt on the nose with hints of fresh baked chocolate cookies and dried green herbs. Lots of chewy malt in the mouth. Quite sweet, toffeeish and biscuity upfront with a subdued bitterness of malt and dusty hops on the swallow. Lingering sweet malt notes, light chocolate and toffee with a herbal woodiness to it. The body is really quite light and its low carbonation makes it soft on the palate. Quite nice as I expected less of it. Very sessionable Dunkel.

I was really expecting to hate this. Drank it at the Addison Oktoberfest and the dipshits pouring the beer left no head. Nice roasted malt characters and it went down nice and smooth.

tap at the bavarian. pours a dark brown with a fat head. aroma is sweet roast malt. taste is cotton candy and caramel, boat loads of caramel, some roasted almost, but not quite burnt taste in the finish. nice balance of medium bitter in the finish also. highly carbonated enjoyable brew even if it is a bit oversweet.

Draught at "Lowenbrau am Gendarmenmarkt" - Berlin.
Dark brown color, much impenetrable one qith a good and resistant clearly nut head. Fragrant aroma with notes of cask, aged wood and dried malty. Crisp and lively in mouth, much refreshing and poor alcoholic perception. Realy bitter notes on the end.

Draft @ 16. Internationales Berliner Bierfestival. Pours a clear amber/brown with a small, diminishing beige head. Rather sweet malty and fruity aroma, bordering raisins, and with a cereal overtone. A bit cloying. Flavour is sweet and malty with dar kfruit notes. Same finish, a bit grainy and mildly bitter. Okay. 03.08.12.
