UPDATED: JUL 11, 2004 (rerate is to replace a rating based on long-ago memory) Sparkling straw body topped by big white head. Aroma is initially skunky, but replaced by light sweet, cereal. Taste is sweet, bread, cookie dough, light floral, grassy. Light body.

Not bad. Not a lot of flavour for a lager of this strength. Slightly dissapointing.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
I rarely see this anymore, I actually thought they went out of business (which was no surprise due to the weak, watery taste of this brew). It did have a small head that left a micro-lace and a faint hop aftertaste, though.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2006 Clear yellow color with a thin white head. Light corn aroma, watery taste. Sweet in an apple sort of way taste. Not good, but not really that bad. Old rating: On tap: Not as bad as I thought it would be. Solidly beats out mass produced Canadian (and of course American) Lagers, but not really good in any way. I’ll never buy one again.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
really not very impressive. Pours a decent head, but has a distinct lack of flavor and poor finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
College memories! My roommate had a neon Lowenbrau sign in the room. Overpriced and under flavored. Touch of bitterness blended with the hops and malt. Nothing stands out, but this is a bit better than the normal mega brew.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Creamy weak white head.
Color is a pale yellow.
Aroma is balanced between hop and malt, but very weak. Flavour is moderately sweet, a bit watery, ending in a very short hoppy finish.

When I was in college (Alice Cooper was big),
Lowenbrau was a beer you felt like putting on a tie to drink.
That was a long, long list of beers ago. To this day, it beats the hell out of MilBudCoors,
but is lame as compared to most German beers. Overpriced too, of course.
Nostalgia counts for something - but only so much.
