I actually thought this was a German beer until I turned 13, and it might have been, at one point. Of course, they do have a Lowenbrau tent at Oktoberfest, but I was too drunk to put two and two together

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear straw yellow pour with a frothy white head, citrus and straw aroma, taste has malt, grass, a hint of sweet honey, crisp refreshing and heavily carbonated.

Can from Systembolaget. Odd smell to this one, like a mix between childs clay and fresh mushrooms. A bit earthy and weirdly funky. Sweet taste with very little alcohol. Artificial taste with some metall and that weird mushroom and clay aroma. Smooth mouthfeel but that is all this beer has going for. I can’t drink this.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden with some head, some of which is retained for the duration. Nose - pale malt, honey and a nice lemon note. Something metallic too in the hops. Taste - honeyed cornflakes with the crisp citrus finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a fairly substantial texture and a really refreshing finish. Overall - how lager should be!

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear pale gold, big white head. Aromas of cooked corn and hay. Taste is more sweet cooked corn, light herbal note. Light body, slightly astringent finish. Not bad in the sunshine, by the BBQ.

Not much to brag about here. Some malt sweetness and corn evident in the taste and aroma, with some sulfurous notes in the aroma as well. Crystal clear, pale, gold colour. An after taste that is sweet and forgettable.

Löwenbräu is brewed under the famous Bavarian Purity Laws. This should mean that this beer is full of natural flavours, crisp and clear and fully balanced with its taste, a quality assured product from Germany. A place where a well crafted beer is expected and anything less is simply not tolerated by the locals. The appearance was of a gorgeous golden yellow colour that had a very good head and great lacing. Looked so good I couldn’t wait to begin drinking the beauty! Found a faint aroma, smelt mostly of what a normal smelling lager should be like, malty and refreshing. Was a lovely tasting drink that had no strong flavours or bitter aftertaste to it, just an awfully good session drink. A clean, crisp, smooth and well balanced beer, Löwenbräu was really easy to enjoy. A good pure Deutsche lager. Refreshing.
