500 ML can: Golden colour, with quick white head that disappears. This is more sweet than bitter in taste, but slightly heavier with more body. Dry malty finish but still clean and not bitter. "Fuzzy beer taste!" Great summer beer, that is more likely to stand up against flavourful foods.

Bottle, bought @ Bierspezi Hoheluft, Hamburg.
Clear golden yellow with a fine, staying, creamy, white head. Aroma is sweet and citric, some maize and brewing cereal. High, prickly carbonation, thin and dryish mouthfeel. Flavour has fair grassy hoppiness, fairly citric and some maize like sweetness. Fairly short and rather sweet aftertaste. Simple.

I remember the anticipation of tasting this beer when I first bought it years ago - a famous German beer! What a tremendous let down. Thoroughly average in all respects. Just another regular everymans lager.

German beer purity laws working as they should do, this is top notch lager.

TATE (142) - Lubec, Maine, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Bottle. Pours a straw color with a thin white head. Very large bubbles and lots of them. Aroma is citrus and banana with a note of spice. The beginning is very light with little flavor while the end has a bite to it and a lingering almost metallic flavor. I suspect this needs to be pretty fresh to be any good. Why green bottles are still used is beyond me. This is okay for a macro brew but nothing special. Average at best.

kramer (3461) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear light gold with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin covering. The nose is pretty nice, some grassy hops and pale malts with just a light touch of sulphur. The aroma isn’t especially strong. The flavor is pretty typical for the German examples of the style I’ve had. Light pale malt, some decent grassy hops, fairly dry and crisp on the finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied with light fizzy carbonation. Short and succinct finish. Not bad, especially compared to what I was expecting.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Brown 66cl bottle, imported, brewed in Munich, bottled in the UK, best before Dec 2007, drank March 2007. Poured into my Veltins glass (three times), it looked every inch a lager, sorry pilsner, light golden blonde with a small white head that soon turned to nothing. Odourless almost, a bit of hops and barley malt if you try hard enough to sniff for a long long time. Good balanced beer, ideal for a hot summers day, not the best pilsner/helles/lager on earth, but certainly not the worst either. All in all a pleasant drink.

Lowenbrau (382) - SPAIN - MAY 4, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2012 Bottle. Malty and herbal aromas. Pours bright gold, with average white head, quickly vanishing. Some lacework. Light body and high carbonation. Taste is bitter, some sweet and malty. Average finish. Good brew, but nothing remarkable.
