Pours a clear dark brown with little head. Very little aroma. Strong taste of molasses, almost overpowering anything else. Not too sticky or syrupy though; in fact, it’s rather thin.

suprchunk (1393) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - APR 5, 2013
Dark brown colored pour. Thick creamy khaki head that sticks around. Plenty of lacing. Mineral aroma predominantly. Malty flavor with the mineral notes coming back. Sweet with some bitterness. Okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

graziano85 (175) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 5, 2013
Nice dark beige head and brown clear colour, with reddish shine. Smells smoky and malts, but less than other doppelbocks. Taste is roasted, caramel, quite sweet, with very little hops, not really bitter, with a clear chocolate background taste. I didn’t feel the alcohol, and low carbonation. Too light-bodied, with the taste in the mouth disappearing fast. Not bad, but sure there are better doppelbocks.

Douberd (629) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 2, 2013
500 ml bottle, poured into a snifter. ABV 7.6% Very deep mahogany brown colour, with a tall, thick and creamy head, off-white in colour, with good retention and light lacing left behind. Aroma of stewed fruits, sugars, light roasted malts, quite some caramel. Very tasteful, sweet/sour, with lots of stewed fruits again, roasted malts and a bit of chocolate on the background, albeit quite faint and covered by the caramel notes. Nice bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thick on the body, average carbonation. Very nice and full of taste bock.

StueyD (812) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2013
A dark, reddish brown coloured beer with a frothy yellow-white head. A rich fruity aromas of plums, cherries and grapes alongside oak wood, nuts and roasted malt. Full-bodied mouthfeel. A dry, tannin-like taste to start, woody and slightly resinous, nutty and malty. Then the fruit burst through to round off the flavour superbly, bucket loads of dark fruits, plums, cherries as well as raisins. All of which stay present in the long and full finish. Bottle purchased from Rewe, Neufahrn bei Freising, Germany.
