#1369 Im Geschmack zu Beginn süßmalzig, dann würzig mit Kakao- u. dunkle Schokoladenoten, wird dann trocken herb. Gefällt mir gut.

Bottle. Beautiful red amber, golden head. Fresh citric hops on a fruity malt nose. Berry malt sweeness, restrained roast and dark bread, nice aromatic hop balance. Chewy, solid body, yeat sparkly and light on the palate. Fresh and quite moreish dark bock - dangerous stuff.

Süßlich hefiger Beginn mit mittelstarker Malzigkeit, die ihrerseits holzige Noten aufweist. Weiterhin süßlich, staubig malzig. Nun eher gering würzig, immerhin süffig. Kein besonderer Bock. 11/11/9/10/9/9

500ml bottle. Clear dark amber colour with small to average, frothy, off-white head. Minimally sweet, nuttily, dark malty aroma with herbal overtones reminding of Ricola Schweizer Kräuterzucker. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty with nuttily and herbal notes. Nice Dunkler Bock, really malty and with pleasant spicy touch.

International Green Week, Berlin 2012: our second day and Hall 22b is where I came across the bar from Passau: after their Helles (on-tap) I decided to have a 0.33 litre bottle of this, their Bock. Chestnut red/brown body, clear and healthy looking, on top a good, solid blanket of foam, light creamy colour. The nose was all malt: toasted, roasted and caramelised. The taste had a semi-sweet malt front: toffee and caramel mixed with dark chocolate and a hoppy backbone that stopped the brew from being sickly or one dimensional. The hop presence is more prominent as the mouth dries and a slight bitterness just takes the edge away from the malty molasses that provide the sweetness. Well balanced and smooth to taste, alcohol hidden nicely: a very pleasant Bock.

bottle, courtesy of pivnizub! Brwon colour, large off-white head. Chocolatey-malty flavours dominate, smoth palate, well-balanced with a shy hoppy touch in the finish.
