Deep opaque cherry-brown, with a patchy head. Rugged cognac aroma makes me wonder if aging wasn’t the way to go. Surprisingly mellow, malty and smooth with a rich underbelly of pungent dark fruit. Id really guess some oxidation is at work, causing off aromas..this is probably superb fresh. Inescapably boozy, with a sweet sugary alcohol-rich finish. As previously stated, probably hasn’t improved with age. Still always interesting to have a 10% beer that is considered on the mellow side of the style. Enjoyit (1695), Vadum, Denmark Jul 19, 2009 Clear reddish brown of color with a foamy beige head. An aroma of spice and dark fruits, weak sweets. A flavor of dark fruits, raisins, dry and spice. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jul 4, 2009 The pour on this abt is a deep ruby brown. Head generates plenty of lacing and a variety of bubble sizes. Aromas of light caramel and sweet, ripe pit fruit -- dates, figs, plums. The alcohol cuts through the finish, making a sweet beer taste even sweeter. The beer mellows a little after being open, but the operative at work is a not unnatural, but very cloying palate. Some nice herbal, lavender notes that could have been carried forward save the taste.
