22 oz. bottle purchased at Winooski Beverage wear house. Dark brown, nearly black color with lasting head retention. Aroma is dark malts, Belgian yeast and toasted bread.

The flavor is mostly the same as the aroma. Yeast up front with candy sugar blast that lingers throughout the sip. Hints of chocolate and tobacco. Light notes of ABV, still pretty drinkable. Bottle is at least two years old and still has a nice level of carbonation, lightly creamy. Classic example of the style.

750 mL bottle at the Meddlesome Moth thanks to my friend Justin. Pours brown with a small beige head. Aroma is of oak, prune, brown sugar, candy sugar, and booze. Taste is of malt, chocolate, prune, raisin, light leather, and candy sugar, booze, and nutmeg.

Traded bottle. Cork limped out of the completely flat bottle. Just a weird quad. Kind of spicy with some coffee too. The yeast was right but it wandered from there. Meh.

8/II/14 - 33cl bottle @ De Lozen Boer (Lochristi) - BB: n/a (2014-182) Thanks to Mathieu and Barbara for the great wedding party!

Clear dark brown to purple beer, very creamy beige head, stable, adhesive. Aroma: quite some caramel, chocolate, sugary, sweet malts, dried fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet, malty, some chocolate, pretty bitter hops, more dark chocolate, bit chemical, some overripe fruits. Aftertaste: again chocolate, roasted malts, some mocha, dried fruits, ripe banana, bitter hops and even more chocolate. Very decent beer!

Not a bad quad, though nothing particularly astounding. Tons of dark fruit spicing with some clove and cinnamon.

Dull coppery brown with almost no head. Aroma is flat, some sweet malt I guess. Body is somewhat thin. Flavors are dull, a hint of fruitiness and sugary malt, dry overall, but just not much going on. Could be a bad bottle? If this is what was intended this might be the worst quad I’ve had. A struggle to finish.

Donker bier met zeer stevige schuimkraag. Aroma van zachte annijs en laurier met veel alc. Volle boddy en zachtbittere afdronk. ---Rated By the Belleketels

750 ml bottle into chalice; no bottle dating and unknown cork coding. Pours moderately cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, apple, pear, plum, molasses, toast, dark candi sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, apple, plum, pear, molasses, toast, dark candi sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark and light fruits, molasses, toast, dark candi sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent quadrupel style. All around great balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Dark fruit, malt, booze. Pours a murky opaque brown with a slight amber tint. Boozy. Some bitterness. Very fruity and a little lighter than I expected based on the appearance and aroma. Overall very solid.
