3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 keepersj12 (1689) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Pretty dark amber with a foamy lacing head. The aroma is booze with a bit of malt, very strong on the booze. The flavor has a nice bit of malt but also a large dose of hops, more than you would expect. The alcohol has a nice burn and the hops give it a bitter finish. The strong alcohol aroma lowered the score for me.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Indra (2323) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - DEC 1, 2011
750ml bottle, probably 1-2 years old. I figure a 10% Abt style should be able to take that no problem. Sweet, malty aroma, estery and full of dark fruit, toffee and black bread, along with hints of raisin, dough and a touch of alcohol in the background. Dark brown in color with deep amber highlights and a very fine, rapidly fading head. Flavor profile is really quite sweet, particularly as the beer warms, showing plenty of caramel and toffee character, amidst lighter notes of dried fruit, peppery alcohol and a touch of chocolate at the finish. Smooth and warming on the palate, very low in effervescence, body is of course very full, as befits the style. Not a lot of complexity here, certainly not disagreeable as a winter warmer but not much else.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ernesto987 (1257) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Sweeter than your typical abt brew but without all the sugars taking over the malts. Not bad.

The pour is medium amber with some head. The clarity is pretty good. There is an unusual nutty aroma blended in with the malts. The body was smooth and creamy on more on the bolder side. Up front the taste is incredibly sweet but on the back end there is more of a sour, dry finish. A nice beer.

courtesy of fiulijn - cloudy dark brown beer with a little foam left; fairly toasted aroma with notes of nuts and marzipan; hints of prunes; full-bodied; some sweetness and a fair bitterness; pretty highly carbonated; the finish is quite dry with a solid lingering bitterness and long nutty, biscuity and dark fruity notes: some alcohol presence

Bottle @ home. Hazy brown appearance with a light brown head. Strong candy sugar, somewhat boozy, brown sugar, belgian ale nose. Very candy sugary, dark belgian, boozy flavor. Strong, sugary, boozy finish. I really can’t stand this one.

750, corked and baled. Pours a murky dark brown with a short-lived dense and creamy tan head. Big fruity malty nose, lots of dark tree fruit and brown bread and black bread. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Bready, fruity mid-palate, though the flavors could be more complex and distinct. Mild fruity bready finish. Decent beer.
