750ml Bottle - Gravity Olympia WA
Deep reddish in color with a thin head. This beer had a carmel aroma with a slight fruit added also. The flavor was deep and rich with sweet malts and light fruits. I found the fruity flavor to be that of a dried fruit flavor. The Belgian yeats added tot he flavor and the mouthfell was dry and crisp. This was a very nice Belgium Beer.

Beautiful red-dark amber color; creamy head. As usual, solid brew from de Proef; very good malt and sweet caramel, light fruitness, candi sugar.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, dark copper body with a full, cream off-white head. Smell: Aroma of light caramel, dark fruits (figs, mostly), a little chocolate, and a half jigger of sherry. Taste: Flavor begins sweet with caramel and dried dark fruit flavors and finishes warming and metallic with some yeasty spiciness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I found it to be woefully average for a Quad, but kudos are in order for hiding the alcohol so well.

Loved this beer. Lots of caramel, well balanced with the high alcohol content. Overall, I believe it stands up well with other beers of its general type. I was sharing this one with a large group and had a hard time letting it go. Needless to say it disappeared fairly quickly.

750 mL bottle. Hazy brown with creamy light tan head. Floral rose, fruit, and yeast aroma. Sweet fruity flavor quickly transitioning a soapy taste - blucky - and finishing with a horrible taste that I can’t quite describe, maybe cow manure given the commercial description.

Poured a dark reddish-brown color with a substantial sticky tan-colored head. Sharp, slightly sour, fruity aroma. Serious presence of cherries, raisins, and candied apples, along with some spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). Flavors were heavy on the sweet, sugary maltiness, with more fruits (cherries, raisins, dates), some spiciness, and a definite bitter quality. Mouthfeel was a bit thinner than would be ideal, but not too bad. Sticky, but oddly astringent finish. A pretty good find, glad I tried this one... I’d probably drink this again.

Gosh, I have a really hard time understanding why this one is rated as low as it is. I loved it. Mine was aged about two years. It had a satisfying pop of the cork but wasn’t a jet. It poured rich brown/amber with a generous foam, somewhat irregular in formation and light tan. The nose was perhaps a bit tame, or one-dimension, but the flavor was of raisins and toffee cake, flavorful but not biting, with an attractive sweetness and a fluffy but not teasing palate. I can understand why people would say it doesn’t have the complexity that befits this style...true enough...but hedonistically it provided all that I was looking for. I shared my bottle with my good friend Satish, for a BBQ dinner on the patio for the 4th of July...and it went down very easily and very satisfactorily. Good beer and a good beer experience.
