Bottle. High creamy and lasting light brown head. Slightly hazy red brown body. Sweet raisins berries and rye bread aroma. Hoppy flavor dominated by alcohol but it is possible to notice prunes and plums ending into a rather sharp bitterness. Heavily carbonated. Short aftertaste.

Bottle (75cl corked) at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, copper beer with a beige head. The person serving it expected it to volcano out of the bottle, but it didn’t. Oxidized, woody nose with prunes, raisins, sugar and some alcohol. A bit dry, with hops, spices, dried fruits and alcohol in the flavor. Warming mouthfeel. Long, slightly oxidized finish with alcohol and dried fruits. A nice beer, but a bit oxidized. Didn’t check the date of the bottle. (070512)

Dark amber. Tan head that dissipates to a thin film. Resinous nose with hints of caramel and dark malts. Some notes of alcohol on the nose, but melded nicely with the malty notes. Medium-bodied for such a big ale, and frankly slightly disappointing in this regard. Slightly hot. Taste profile matches the nose and is what one might expect for an abt (invert sugar, deep malts, some dried fruits reminiscent of fig or date ... a bit raisiny).

Dark brown with orangish red tone and tan head that dwindles to a spotty film. Alcohol notes obvious in nose along with caramel and chocolate and perhaps frangelico. Scotchy flavor on a malty base and alcohol tinge. Not at all what I was expecting. Ok.

Another beer I tried at Københavnske Øldage 2007. In this brew you can sence the alcohol, but in a good way. It’s a bit malty which adds a sweetness.

Bottle. @ Copenhagen Øl Festival. Average creamy beige head that mostly diminished. Good lacing. Mahogany color. Dry fruit, caramel, liquorish, toasted notes and light spice and berries with a hint of rye bread. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Well balanced with moderated sweet malty flavor with some toasted bitter notes. Sweet and lingering finish.

Dark teakwood colored beer with tight beige head. Aromas of caramel, prunes a light floral and a mellow sweetness. Strong roasted malty flavor up front with a little bit of a fruity grape-like flavor. Some candy flavor along with a bitter finish.
