(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a tall, dense, off-white head leaving laces. Vinous, sweetish aroma. Very full-bodied and very pleasant with some diacetyl. Not a world class Abt, but a lovely brew nonetheless. 021206

Bottled. Reddish brown coloured. Small off white head. Aroma of ripe fruits and light spices. Sweet berries and alcohol notable. Flavour of liqourice, spice, fruits and sweetness. Medium bodied. Well hidden alcohol. Is fruity and sweet spiced in the end.

Very fruity strong belgian brew, lots of esters throughout. Hints of caramel, fig, plum, sherry, grapes, and light chocolate. Body is light, alive with carbonation really bringing out the spices in the finish. Nice beer for 10%, never felt tough to drink.

Translucent and brownish-grape in color with spicing sediment floating throughout. Icy tan clumps form a cohesive head. Brandy and prunes drive the currant filled aroma with some help from blackberries and figs. Plums and concord grapes stand sweetly at the side of rum runner spicing. Effervescence stabs into the mouth and then an insanely dry and hollow flavor and feel capture all attention. (Think wind tunnel at the end of the sip.) Plums tingle with fried golden raisins - and some nutmeg for spicing, aiding and abetting a unified tongue plume. Palate reprehension occurs as ash greets burnt concord paste, which has all but evaporated from the dried out marble rye loaf it was spread upon last week. A hint of chocolate and marinated prunes give a minor accent to the dark fruited benchmark. Burnt English toffee with rummy, dry spicing sees us to the door. Thanks for sharing, Blake!

Cloudy deep copper ale covered by a large, though fading off-white head. The nose presents itself mature, rather ripe with well extracted and rather clean grapey and plum-like malt flavours that seem to have known the gently roasty chocolate backings for a long time. Noble bittering hops surprise by their potency, cutting a bit from the malts unusual unity. Globally, I can’t say something particularly grabbed my attention enough to find it worthy of picking in front of its revered rivals, but amateurs who can’t get enough of this type of strong and dark Belgian ales have one more reason to celebrate.

Bottle via marcus. The beer pours to a dark orange body with a yellowish head the aroma is musty malts, sweet malts. Kind of odd, but doesn’t appear spoiled. The flavor is sweet and malty with light raisins and dark malts with some yeasts and light alcohol. The beer has a moderate palate, some carbonation, and is acetic.
