pours a deeep, cloudy brown hue with a light, frothy tan head . Aromas of caramel, prunes a light floral and a mellow sweetness. Flavors of raisins, with a light body and clean finish.

Aroma is robust with scents of raisin, caramel and toffee. Appears as a dark opaque brown with a thin foaming. The drink is very lightly carbonated and has a very smooth character that doesn’t overpower my tastebuds like other quadrupels i’ve had. Alcohol goes unnoticed.

30.04.06 750ml bottle at HWOH. My notes call this _De Proef special brewmaster Belgian Abt_, so this looks to be the one. Dark teakwood colored beer with tight beige head. Big and sherryish aromas on this quad-like beer (I see know it is a quad) with great roundness from a bout of dried dark fruit flavors like fig and raisin. Dry, woody, and corky. Full bodied, it finishes with a tart bite that is unexpected and maybe out of place, but it’s pretty good. Lively. Seems like a pretty good rendition of a quad, to me, and if that’s what it’s supposed to be then more power to ’em.

Chestnut body under a large, frothy beige head. Aroma: caramel, pear, bread dough, brown sugar, spice. Mouthfeel: medium body, lively carbonation, watery. Flavor: Somewhat sweet moving into acidic. Nothing special but not terrible.

burnt orange body with medium, aerated head...aroma is full of dark fruits, caramel, toffee, and yeast...flavor is of chewy figs, caramels, dark fruits, and nutmeg....has sort of a bread-like backbone as well...nice palate

Bottled. Pours a very dark ruby/purple color. Aroma is dominated by dark fruits. Slightly sweet, almost reminds me of a sweet dark wine, like a sangria. Slight hint of yeastiness. Strong roasted malty flavor up front with a little bit of a fruity grape-like flavor. Some candy flavor along with a bitter finish. Some alcohol flavor, but not too strong.

Bright mahogany color with decent tan head. Aroma has all kinds of dark fruit. Plum and raisin dominate. Decent malt backbone although it’s hard to pinpoint anything, just sweet in general. Plenty of alcohol detectable. Flavor is a little bit of a letdown. Everything seems muddled, so much it’s hard to pick out individual flavors. Just faint spice in the finish. Body way thin, average quad at best.
