Bottle, shared w. Tim & Jacob. Cloudy very dark brown, tan head. Nose is clay, caramel, dark fruits, tobacco, some whiskey/chocolate covered cherries. Flavor is alcohol, dark fruits, tobacco, hop bitterness. Overly alcoholic & very thin, getting worse as it warms up.

Bottle shared by faroeviking. Hazy brown body with a thick tan head. Very malty aroma with caramel, prune, raisins mollasses and some alcohol. Medium bodied. Flavour is caramel, prunes and other ripe fruit, mollasses and some alcohol. Great Abt but lacks the body to become one of the best.

A sticky sweetness is very pronounced in this beer. Taste is that of caramel raisins with a hint of chocolate. There is also a mild alcohol taste. This could be sold as a candy.

Deep dark amber colored with little light brown head. Sweet and syrupy aroma with yeast and mild raisins, thin licorice and mild alcohol also present. Medium bodied. Flavor is thinner with this body, alcohol comes up rather strong. Yeast is good here, misses some body.

Bottle at chris o’s teabag for 2009 tasting. Alround rating: Sweet, roasty, rum and taisin toffee, noteable amount of alcohol, but quite a nice drink.

750ml bottle at Novare Res. Pours a reddish brown with an off white head. Aroma is caramelly, dark fruity, and rum like. Flavor is very rich, sweet malt. Raisons, dates, figs, and a hint of funky yeast. There’s a pretty good alcohol presence here also.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s pre NYE tasting. Dark amber with a thin beige film. Must caramel and faint oxidisation make it quite clear that age has not been particularly kind to this 2004 bottle. Dark fruits a plenty and a good kick from the boozy stuff give it plenty of guts. Sugary fruity finish with some late dusky chocolate. Ok but it’s clearly not what it once was.
