750 ml bottle from BevMo. Beer pours a medium-dark brown color with a small, off-white, foamy, mostly and quickly diminishing head with nice lacing. The aroma is malty with a note of toasted grain; Moderate yeast notes of blue-veined cheese, cellar and barnyard; Miscellaneous notes of dried dark stone fruits, sherry, The flavor is moderately bitter with a long, warm, lightly bitter, lightly acidic finish. The body is light-to-medium, the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is soft.

Very fruity strong belgian brew, lots of esters throughout. Hints of caramel, fig, plum, sherry, grapes, and light chocolate. Body is light, alive with carbonation really bringing out the spices in the finish. Nice beer for 10%, never felt tough to drink.

I have never experienced an abt/quad that was this wretched. It shouldn’t be age, why would this style fall this bad. Bad bottle? Pours deep bronze with a frothy tan head. The aroma has biscuit, toffee, caramel - thick and rich. It seems to have a butterscotch diacetyl-like aroma. Why would a bottle conditioned quad have this? It comes off smelling more like a doppelbock than a quad. Medium body with some sharp carbonation - far far too light bodied for the style. The taste starts sour and medicinal with butterscotch and toffee. The finish is metallic and sharp. I’m not sure how this is justified in being called a quad - I detected no Belgium yeast, malt was more German-esque, it was thin, etc. If you want a mediocre-at-best doppelbock you could reach for this. Best to avoid this trainwreck.

This was an interstingly complex and interesting belgian. Full of deep and rich complexity, super malty and chewy on the mouthfeel. Dark fruits, raisins, walnuts, sweet, sweet caramel, and just a hint of dates and plums. Alcohol could be masked a little more with all this flavor, but it is not over the top, and is very soothing all the way through to the finish.

750 mL bottle purchased at the Nugget on Mace in Davis, CA. Floral, sweet, sugary, musty aroma present. Some dried fruits here, but mustiness prevails. A touch of chocolate as well. Moderately hazy ruddy amber hue with a creamy, persistent light tan and yellowish head with fine bubbles. Wow, this is very burnt and very dry. Not much in the way of sweetness at all in this. It is a pretty static, dry, burnt popcorn flavoring which finishes dry and with a touch of chocolate flavoring. This is not enjoyable to me at all.
