Bottle shared by faroeviking. Hazy brown body with a thick tan head. Very malty aroma with caramel, prune, raisins mollasses and some alcohol. Medium bodied. Flavour is caramel, prunes and other ripe fruit, mollasses and some alcohol. Great Abt but lacks the body to become one of the best.

Gosh, I have a really hard time understanding why this one is rated as low as it is. I loved it. Mine was aged about two years. It had a satisfying pop of the cork but wasn’t a jet. It poured rich brown/amber with a generous foam, somewhat irregular in formation and light tan. The nose was perhaps a bit tame, or one-dimension, but the flavor was of raisins and toffee cake, flavorful but not biting, with an attractive sweetness and a fluffy but not teasing palate. I can understand why people would say it doesn’t have the complexity that befits this style...true enough...but hedonistically it provided all that I was looking for. I shared my bottle with my good friend Satish, for a BBQ dinner on the patio for the 4th of July...and it went down very easily and very satisfactorily. Good beer and a good beer experience.

Corked and caged bottle. Large tan head that mostly diminished, good lacing, minimal carbonation, transparent, and a ruby hue on the first pour and a brown hue on the second pour became cloudy, murky. malty, caramel, sweet, chocolate, dark fruits, and alcohol. Flavor was sweet, vinuous, malty, caramel, and dark fruits. Smooth mouthfeel. One of my favorite styles and in my opinion definitely worthy of a try.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a tall, dense, off-white head leaving laces. Vinous, sweetish aroma. Very full-bodied and very pleasant with some diacetyl. Not a world class Abt, but a lovely brew nonetheless. 021206

Poured a deep, clear, mahogony with a thick, very long lived head. Aromas are of caramel, banana, and winter spices. Flavors are dominated by the use of crystal malts. Very sweet and caramelly, with srawberries and melon topped off with clove and allspice. Full bodied and sugary aftertaste.

Pours a dark hazy amber color with a thin tan head. Aroma is powerful: bread-like, fruity, raisend and some spice. Flavor is the same, very fruity, but not sweet like you would expect from the aroma. very good, and hoppier toward the end.
