Dark teakwood colored beer with tight beige head. Aromas of caramel, prunes a light floral and a mellow sweetness. Strong roasted malty flavor up front with a little bit of a fruity grape-like flavor. Some candy flavor along with a bitter finish.

pours brown with tan head, aroma is brown sugar, oatmeal and chocolate but no fruits which knocks the score down a bit. It has a decent malty flavor with tons of alcohol also get a bit of hops somewhere in there. overall good but i prefer trappist quads like rochefort

(Sample Date: 6/11/2010 Source:Other) Big malty dark sugar notes. Caramelized sugars and spicy yeast notes. Almost black with tan head. Flavor follows aroma. Sweet finish with peppery residual. Quite good.

This $10 corked and caged bottled brew whose cork was marked 10/13/09 from a bottle shop served at 50 degrees poured a head of almost all foam made up of fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent very softly carbonated caramel brown colored body. The aroma was vinous and malt hop. The mouth feel was strongly tingly at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained nice notes of malt caramel brown malt and was mildly vinous. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Cobra (1076) - In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA - MAR 13, 2008
750 ml. brown, Belgian bottle. Corked and caged. No freshness date. Poured out a ruddy red color, with a sticky tan head. Aromas are of rum soaked raisins, brown sugar, toffee, boozey alcohol. Yeasty flavors mix with rum soaked dark dried fruits. Some cherry pit flavors as well. Medium mouthfeel, dry finish. Leaves boozey burps in it’s wake.

Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany color, clear with the first pourt. A creamy, dense, tannish head forms and never fades away, perhaps only decreasing in size over the life of the beer. Fantastic lacing is left behind. Terrific fruity aroma of fig and plum, yeasty notes as well. Very much vinous in aroma. Body is medium with a high carbonation level. Somewhat sharp and boozy with flavor intertwined nicely with pit fruits mentioned above. Sharp and peppery feel, yeasty. Decently done. Perhaps aging would be appropriate.

Jukkabro (3457) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 8, 2009
Deep dark amber colored with little light brown head. Sweet and syrupy aroma with yeast and mild raisins, thin licorice and mild alcohol also present. Medium bodied. Flavor is thinner with this body, alcohol comes up rather strong. Yeast is good here, misses some body.
