On tap @ brauberger. Schiuma bianca abbastanza fine poco persistente. Gialla dorata velata, ai limiti dell’ opalescenza. Aroma di mela Golden, sentori agrumati, malto, un po’ di miele, poco luppolo. Dolce amabile, molto più di quello.che lo.stile suggerirebbe. Malto, cereali integrali, caramello. Ho chiesto al birraio: utilizza solo malto caramel e kristal. Inusuale ma estremamente beverina. Poco corposa e poco carbonara.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 Straight from the barrel at the brewpub
Orange hazy, white head. Smells of green grass, hops and spices, malts. Moderate sweet, quite clean, some fruity yeast notes, medium bitter, grassy.
A very nice beer; no carbonation, never tried a lager straight of the barrel before. I liked it quite well. We need something like this in Oslo!

At the brewpub, on draught. A difficult beer to rate as it is, uniquely for northern Germany, an uncarbonated beer sold fresh from wooden casks rolled down from the brewhouse on the same principle as traditional Alt or Kolsch. Has the earthy edge of all beers dispensed thus. On the other hand it is a pretty dull, soft, low-hopped zwickelbier and two or three are enough.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at the brewpub. Good fresh yeast aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. Nice stable white head. The flavour is grainy in the good, malty way. Also has some fresh yeast and notes of newly baked bread. Very slightly sweet and balanced by a mild bitterness. Tastes of its ingredients.

Cask at the brewpub- Served a hazy copper color with a small head and good lacing. Fresh grain and a bit of fruit aroma, with a hint of spice. Has a distinct bittersweet taste. Malty with caramel and a nice bitterness. Has a clean finish. Medium body, smooth and well balanced. Good cask beer. Worth a day trip from Hamburg to "Old Town" Lubeck.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gravity cask at the brewpub. Hazy, red-brown, almost orange colour with a small white head. Love this nice, warming appearance! From the aroma I get notes of caramel, malts and bittersweet fruits. Lightly sweet taste with bitter notes from citrus and orange. Medium body, oliy texture and soft carbonation. I was pleasently surprised by this beer!
