3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle) Pours a semi-hazy gold color with a medium white head and good lacing. Looks the part, but it certainly doesn’t smell the part, and in fact it doesn’t really smell like much as it sits here cool. The smell slowly begins to emerge with warming, but it’s still quite subtle, with scents of pears, spicy hops, faint vanilla, and perhaps some banana. This really begins to smell like a fresh cut Bartlett with further warming. The flavor is stronger and not bad at all, with some pale malt sweetness followed by spicy hops that linger well on after drinking and help to cut the sweet fore. Yeast makes its presence known on the finish as well. The mouthfeel is excellent, as it’s full and creamy, and the carbonation is appropriate. Overall this beer really grew on me the more I drank it. A good showing from Lucette.
