3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 ElGaucho (2034) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - APR 28, 2012
UPDATED: APR 30, 2012 Draft at Punch Pizza, Eden Prairie. Really nice sweet stout aroma that reminds me of some of Town Hall’s beers. Fully opaque black body with large, lasting brown head. Qualities in aroma come through in flavor, with a strong hop profile making it stand out from the crowd of ordinary stouts. Really good. Nice beer.

Nothing too special, but I really am excited to see what this brewery does in coming years. I see big things in their future.

Tap. Dark black pour, light head and a nice roasty aroma. Flavor is also nice roasted dark malt, a little chocolate and slightly sweet lactose. Really enjoyed this one.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 craftbeerbeast (8) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 21, 2011 does not count
On tap. Pours dark with khaki/off white head. Aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, and floral hops. Excellent malt backbone with coffee, chocolate, and subtle nutty connotations. Also a hint of dark fruit that finishes up dry. Suprisingly easy to drink despite the heavy use of roasted dark malts. Overall, a very good robust stout. Looking forward to taking this one home although I have only found it on tap.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 eruizgarcia (108) - - DEC 20, 2011
Pours black with almost no head. A bit of a burnt taste, light bitterness, clean finish; really not that much going on for a stout.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 emeinz (220) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 7, 2011
On tap at republic. Dark pour with large off white head. I’m definitely confused. It’s very Roasty and robust with hints of chocolate and coffee. But not nesecarily good coffee. I thought it may have had a slight sour tinge to it? Maybe I’m imagining things. Anyway, I’m not sure if its different good or different in a bad way.

Tap at Minneapolis Beer Fest. Pretty impressive stuff! Dark brown pour, good retentive head. Roasty chocolate and coffee throughout, slightly dry, and very tasty.

Tap. Deep brown in color with just a khaki ring around the neck. Slight nutty aroma and milk chocolate. Very non-stout like. More like a brown. Dry as fuck, but fairly thin. Almost seems bretted to me. Fruity, slight chocolate, and astringent. Unusual, but not that good.

On tap at Lyndale Tap House. Aroma has big notes of roast, coffee, some slight toffee, even a touch of dark fruit. Taste is slightly chocolate and coffee, roasted with a weird sour grain middle just for a second, finishing dry. Pretty good stuff!
