COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An oak-aged double red. Malt-forward with luscious caramel and hints of roast, but the ample hops won’t let you forget they are there. Finishes dry and clean, leaving the impression that it is lighter than it really is.

Pretty thick, but not heavy. The hops don’t hit until you swallow. Nicely balanced.

Bottle. Nutty caramel malt and alcohol aroma with a touch of something cinnamon-like... probably the oak. Clear deep amber with a huge ivory head. Spicy caramel malt flavor with an herbal bitter finish, and that same cinnamon-like note as in the aroma. Medium creamy body, soft carbonation.

I loved this. Pours a dark murky auburn. The aromas is a malt bomb. Massive bread and dried fruit. Caramel too. Wonderful. Flavors follow suit. The hops take a back seat to the big sweet and fruity malts. Finishes smooth. Reminds me a lot of a bock. Excellent. I love this brewery.

Dark amber appearance. Somewhat of a heavy red with a high alcohol content. Finish is fairly light despite the heaviness.

Received in trade, reviewed from notes. The appearance was a mostly dark amber to red almost brown colored body with a one fingered white foamy head that drops mostly immediately. Lotsa clingy foamy lacing sticking nicely to the glass. The smell had a super large amounts of caramel maltiness gracing my nose eloquently, holy moses, its there and coming hard - that caramel - wowee - overbearing - maybe to some, but to me, hmmmm.... well, its not bad, but its super strong just saying. The taste was extremely sweet in the flavoring, the aftertaste - well, let’s just say there’s a super amount of caramel-ness coming through - woweee, I never would have expected that caramel so strong, ok - intentional - I don’t know, but ok, I’ll leave it at that. I will say there is a nice smooth sweet finish that helps a bit here. On the palate, to me, is this sessionable - most likely not as there’s too much caramel going on clinging to my mouth and tongue pulverizing it into submission, well, if anything, I mean there’s a nice carbonation going on for the American Red/Amber style, but for me, I’m pretty sure I’d have other Red ales over this. Overall, for the most part, not a bad American Red/Amber ale, but not necessarily one to come back to or at least with a meal, Could it go in a beef stew? Probably, and if I got the chance again, I most likely would do that with this one.

Sampled at a tasting at a local liquor store. For an 8% alcohol beer it has a very pleasing on the palate flavor and per some others comments has a flavor similar to that of a mild Guinness. I enjoyed it and picked up a 4 pack to enjoy myself. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Cherry, caramel malt, and alcohol aroma. Dark amber with large light tan head. Sweet caramel malt and moderately bitter herbal/citrus and alcohol flavor. Very nice.

Bottle: Pours dark red-brown with a creamy tan head. Roasty, smoky caramel aroma. Woody, toast, caramel flavor. Nice, easy, wooden tones with a touch of alcohol...subtle.... Very mellow, overall. Nice.
