2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Light gold with thick white head. Spicy head. Hazy. Long lasting head. Heavily carbed. Has some potential. Not an everyday beer but glad I tried it.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
From BA: Brown squatty 33cl bottle, best before 06/2010, drank on 26th Oct 2007. My bottle says it is brewed by a Liefmans Brewery.
Poured into a Leffe glass it came out a golden clear yellow and a large white head sat on tap, sadly the head shrank away very swiftly.
I got carbolic soap mixed in with the yeast when I put my nose to it, not a good aroma to me.
Full on alcohol taste and more lagerish than a normal Belgian Ale.
The aftertaste was thin although the alcohol does linger.
A little disappointed with this beer, I was expecting more flavour and more umph.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Reviewed from notes (2007).
Crisp golden color with a fading frothy head. Nose is citrus sweetness with a hint of spice. A dry floral/fruity flavor is pervasive throughout, the spice aroma makes itself known in taste toward the end. Crisp finish, soft and smooth body. Easy to consume.

So I have here a long defunct product which was the last bottle at Marty’s in Newton. Didn’t realize at the time but the fine print on the cap says October 2008. No matter this type of beer doesn’t necessarily skunk...it only becomes more evil. Looks like a Leffe or Affligem, only more gold than blond. Aroma by now is some fruit and a whole lot of booze, sort of like a a white wine, only yeastier. Starts bitter and spicy and ends with a cream soda flush. Stings the palate and sticks around for a few seconds after. Very unique. Now I feel like I’ve destroyed a historic artifact. Hopefully my review will not be the last and someone has a large cellar.

Originally rated March 2006. The Power of Christ Compels You !! Yes, this is a devil of a beer, as when I turned it a few times (very slowly) to get the sediments flowing, it created shitloads of pressure and the brew wound up all over in my room. Gives a big fat white foamy head with long retention. The lacing left is also quite good. Hazy pale yellow in colour with lots of flaky sediments all over. The nose is mostly a mild wave of Belgian yeast with some spices, like corriander. The strong yeast is there at first, then goes to a slight alcohol finish, to then end in an apple aftertaste. Best before date is May 2008 and listed as a 8.5% on the AVB. Resembles to Duvel, but not as good.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml squat bottle. Aroma is candy and grains. Almost a caramel corn smell. Pours very attractive. Rich gold with big white heat that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Taste is full with cereal and candy. This bottle is nearly 2 years old, so I feel the flavors have mixed and mellowed into this wonderful subdued mix. I will have to try a new bottle to see if that theory is correct.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Schöne weiße und feinporige Schaumkrone. Farblich bernsteinmäßig. Fruchtige und malzige Düfte, etwas alkoholisch.
Antrunk perlig. Anschließend hefig und fruchtig mit einer Ahnung nach Pflaumen, beinahe die Zunge betäubend. Malzig und leicht brennend im Abgang.
Ein sehr gutes Bier.
