COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

Had typical Belgian strong ale characteristics but just not right on mark. I was a little disappointed by this baby.

Aroma is full of Belgian yeast, some mild hops, and some spice aromas (minor bits of clove), and a little alcohol (principally light bourbon). The appearance is a golden color, with a decent white head, will developed lacing. The flavor is mildly tart, and slightly oaken taste, with a bit of cognac hints, with a nice caramel body. Super smooth, and a nice finish with a little woody at the end.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a 3 finger snow white head with the consistency of meringue. The nose is malt, grain and grassy hops. The taste is yeast, sweet grain, malt and light citrus hops with a spicy alcohol finish. Medium mouthfeel. Interesting brew. Starts out like a run of the mill foreign pale and gets more complex as I sip, and then the booze kicks in. Not sure where that ABV comes from, but it’s a decent brew.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2009 Pours clear gold with heavy yeast flakes and small white head.Aroma is slight spice and heavy yeast. Flavor is about the same really can’t taste anything but the yeast and it’s very bitter.Drank a glass of this and poured the rest out. A waist of $7 will never buy or drink this crap again. Not every beer from Belgium is good and this proves it.!

750ml corked and caged. Pours a hazy golden with a medium white head, decent retention. Lots of yeast present. Fruity yeasty aromas dominate, but some malt does come through. Flavors are again fruity with the addition of some spice, and hops. A mediocre rating for a mediocre brew.

Pours golden yellow with a cloudy appearance. Live yeast present. Nose is a very faint hint of wheat. Almost has a light beer aroma. Tastes similar to a light beer but with the tingle of a higher ABV.
