COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

Eh. Budweier with alcohol and cherry accents. Quite bitter. After swallowing it was like i just swigged some atered down vodka, initials tastes disappeared way too quickly. Mediocre, granted i wish budweiser tasted like this and carried its wallop. De debil wasn’t in this brew, only melancholy.

I was disapointed by this one. Bitter, that’s all i can say. Almost no flavors.

Golden with a HUGE head. Citrus and skunk aroma. Spicey honey with some skunky notes. Seems like it’s been exposed to light for too long. I’ll have to try it again sometimes.

Thick head, strong spicy flavor. A Little after taste, sharp nose. My new favorite beer.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2003 another beer offering duvel the sincerest form of flattery. very pale with enormous frothy, excited head. smells of raw barley grain, tinned fruit, and faintly of glue (ingredients list contained a few numbers...). lightly salty, smooth honey body followed by burst of raw vodka, and a moderate bitterness that dries everything up in a very abrupt finish. rer8: nasty chemical taste. blah.

Large, bubbly head, which dissipates quickly. smells quite earthy and a bit peppery aswell as citrus scented detergent, and perhaps green apples. Taste is kind of a mix between, caramel, citrus, soap, yeast and peppery spice, then the bitter hoppiness kicks in at the end, quite dry aswell. Not as good as Duvel, but i guess its OK.
