3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Strong kick of alcohol. A little slight on the flavor at first, but picked up vanilla and citrus in the malts as it warmed up. No particular lingering flavor after the swallow. Good, but not particularly memorable.

Good taste with accents of spicyness. Average palate. Itís comparable with Duvel, but to my opinion Duvel is better.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2007 Bottled. Time for a re-rate I thought. And it didnít turn out to good for Lucifer. Donít know whether my tastebud changed or the beer did, but really donít like it anymore. Couldnít finish the whole bottle. Hoppe herbal and light grainy aroma. Pale yellow color, light hazy, white head, good lace. Bitter, some veggies, medicinal bitterness. Alcoholic and metallic. Hard drink, harder to finish.

I obviously got a light-struck bottle. I donít know why Riva persiss to package such a good beer in a green bottle. Pale-yellow/golden cloudy colour . Aside form the off flavour/aroma from light damage, I taste bannana and candy sugar with a devilshly warming finish.

Belgian Strong Ale is a bit of a misnomer here; this is soft and subtle, and there is nothing strong about it. Soft fruitiness with underlying malt, very little hops, and no bitterness. Persistent head stayed with this overwhelmingly charming, smooth beer. Nothing particular stands out about this beer, however ther are no negative qualities.
