COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

Draught, Golden ale with spicy aroma and large head. Thin but spicy flavour, quite tangy but without the complexity of Duvel.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2005 Only slight grapefruitaroma. Strong hopbitter taste with a bit of citrus. Duvel-clone, but with less aroma, taste, complexity and power. Other bottle-type, other label, other breweryname (Liefmans Breweries), but the recipe is probably the same. Very blonde, this Duvel imitation. Soft chalky lemon-like aroma. Flowery, hoppy, honey-like flavor with lime. Dryish with just a bit of fruity sweetness. Not bad, but Duvel is better.

Bottle, bought @ Belgisk Bryg, Cph.
Pours pale yellow, good deal of bubbles. Small, frothy white head nice duration. Aroma is a bit metallic, some yeastiness and biscuity malts. Light citrusy. Fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely sweet, good maltiness. Still a lingering off-note of metal. Rather sweet and the metal doesn’t do it any favours.

Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Oct 13th, 2003: Hazy yellow/gold color with a medium thick white head and thin lacing. Aroma of spice, clove and yeast. Fairly crisp with a bitter character and flavors of wheat, pepper, fruit and a little alcohol. The finish is very carbonated. I really was not too impressed with this one.
