Have a thirsty towel handy, because this one pops and fizzes like champagne! It pours a pretty, slightly hazy solar yellow with a thick, frothy white head. Strong, yeasty aroma has hints of pear and butterscotch. Flavor has a nice malty core with subtle fruity and butterscotch notes, a hint of hops, and a firm but not fierce alcohol bite. Texture has good body and plenty of sassy fizz. Devilish!

Pours a mostly clear yellow, very foamy and active head. The aroma is musty yeast and bosc pear. The taste is fruity with notes of apples, pears, and stone fruit. Sweet underneath. Has some spiciness too - stale white pepper and coriander. The finish is slightly bitter, nicely balanced and very clean for 8%.

I like this much better than most of the others rating it. Cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head. Funky, yeasty nose with some ester character. Apples and white grape palate. Clean, but an almost tannic finish.

330mL at St Arnold's in DC. Hazed golden pour with massive white foam- rocky with volcanic retention. Thinks sheets of lacing. Nose is estery, spicy, Abbey Tripel candi sugar, spicy hops, booze, heavy esters. Taste at first is creamy and spicy moving to heavy metallic and blood iron content. Sharp metals. Booziness overwhelms. Palate is dry, powdery, boozy, sharp metallic. Too bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a light golden amber, big fluffy head and spots of lace. The taste is mostly caramel with some highlights of candied fruit and juicy fruit gum. There is only a slight bitterness at the finish. The alcohol doesn’t overwhelm, but is present throughout. Decent, but there are others that are stronger entries.

Bottle. Blonde. Citrus and poire Williams in the aroma. Citrus flavor, slightly alcoholic, with some yeasty notes. Good stuff.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2012 Draught at the Pig and Whistle in Kyoto. Golden, clear, with a great, big, tight head. Very malty, bready nose, grains, a bit of honey, spice. Sweet and simple flavor, very malty, bready, almost no bitterness. The old Lucifer tried to be Duvel, this seems like it’s trying to be Leffe Blonde. Boring.

An evil beer with a yeasty, spicy and candied aroma. Very active with white foam head and thick yellow color. A taste that is equal parts sweet and tart, and a body that is light yet zesty. I had a very high expectation for this beer, and was somewhat disappointed that it seems slotted below the Carolus line up.

750ml bottle poured into my Chimay Trappist glass. Rating number 666, I figured this one would fit perfectly. Pours a cloudy dark gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian yeast, green apple peel, a little caramel and a little citrus. Taste is light sweet and light sour. Green apple, caramel, dark fruits and Belgian sugar. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I’ll gladly drink this one again, but maybe a 12oz next time.

Fine beer not not exeptional. It somehow tries to be a Duvel but it lacks some oomph. Not bad, not great.
