PriorL (1759) - Gent, - MAY 11, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 75cl bottle. Aged for 2 years. Shared with Mathieu87. Appearance: clouded blonde beer, unstable white head. Nose: grains, caramel, oxidated, Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast used by backers), over aged hops. Taste: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, caramel, oxidated, yeast, too much carbonation in the mouth. Shouldn’t have been cellared, i’ll try a fresh one asap.

Cloudy pour. Slight citrus and bread nose. Flavor is light, hint of orange and lemon with bread crust. White head lasts and laces. High alcohol content is not detected. Not too shabby. An American malt liquor would burn and taste medicinal. This isn’t bad at all! Can.

Bottle pour. Hazy golden with a large white foamy head. Strong wheat, bread, and banana aroma. Medium body. Bread, yeast, wheat, and alcohol taste. Bitter throughout most of the taste.

Bottle poured. Light golden color with generous white head. Has a pleasant aroma with hint of citrus. Very unexpected bitter taste that starts and finishes as such all the way through. Was not expecting it based on the aroma.

Bottle; pours gold with a white head; aroma is citrus fruit and spice; taste is malty and then has some citrus bitterness; finish is dry; overall this beer seems to be missing something; it’s not bad but it’s not that great either....

On tap at Barrels & Bottles. Pale Golden and hazy appearance with a sticky, lacy white head. Aroma and flavor of Belgian yeast, fruity esters, bready malts and light alcohol. Medium sweetness. Just OK for a Belgian Strong.

Hazy pale yellow color, big white head that quickly disappeared. Some lacing. Medium body, flat carbonation. Huge banana aroma, malts, yeast, spices. Unfortunately, watery texture. Medium sweet taste. Interesting but watery.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Light golden yellow, a bit cloudy, with small off-white head. Sweetish aroma, bready, corn sugar, rice, a bit cheesy yeasty. Flavor is yeasty, corn, alcoholic, light sweetness, rice. Medium dry, lively carbonation. Light to medium body. Sweetish aftertaste.

(75 cl bottle from Vinius, Chios; BBD: 07/02/16; Lot 13009) Pours a hazy golden with frothy, white head. Good retention and beautiful lace. Aroma has notes of fruity esters, green apples and spicy hints of Belgian yeast. Oily texture, medium body, lively carbonation and an astringent, warming finish. Flavour is boozy, spicy and relatively dry. Ok for what it is but far from being my favourite from Het Anker.
