Bottle. Hazy pale yellow color. Thick foamy head. Flavor is initially very fruity and lively, middle is mellow bread and yeast, fades into a candi sugar mild hop finish. Sweet and lively on the palate. Lots of residual sugars. Quite tasty.

0.33L bottle. Pouts hazy golden orange with a rocky white head. Really interesting and strong aromas. Dried fruit, bubblegum, sweet candy. Little malt character in this beer. Starts almost immediately with light bitterness, transitioning to alcohol, yeast, woody and salty flavors. Finishes slightly sour, but doesn’t linger very long, leaving behind heady alcohol feeling. Light body with a relatively thin mouthfeel and sharp carbonation. Overall, I’m a bit disappointed in the flavor and texture after the amazing aromas coming off this beer.

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis in Utrecht. The beer has yellow/golden color and a large white head with a lot of bubbles. In the aroma tones malts, grains and fruits (a bit lemon like). The taste starts dry and hoppy, but changes in a fruity taste with sweet bitters. The finish is well balanced, long and has some nice bitters.

Tsekouratos (185) - Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, GREECE - JUN 28, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours golden yellow with a huge white head. Aromas of orange zest, spices, typical Belgian yeast notes and maybe some bread. Tastes pretty much the same, with the spices nicely blended with bread and biscuit notes. Oily mouthfeel, sweet aftertaste, long. Medium body with medium carbonation.

0.75 bottle. Little hazy, pale, gold color and a big, thin, white head. Aroma of pale malts, hops, and spices - a typically Belgian combination with a noticeable yeasty addition. Taste is a bit sourer than expected, not as sweet and spicy as is customary for a Belgian ale. Medium body, slick texture, and average carbonation. Finish is even sourer than the taste, not to a fault but still unexpected. Overall the beer is really mediocre, especially considering the style and brewery’s repute.

Duft av plomme, gress, jær og sitron. Dunkel lys gulbrun farge. Dekkende hvitt skum, noe heng langs kant. Frisk smak av frukter og noe syrlig gress. Nydelig og lett drukket.

Served on tap in a snifter Appearance – The beer is served a light golden color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a decent level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is largely as would be expected for a BPA with a decent showing of some fruity smells of orange, peach, and banana along with some spice aromas of pepper and clove. A bit of bubblegum and some candied sugar are there as well along with some hoppy smells of a grassy and lightly floral nature. Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat fruity flavor with the presence of both peach and orange present. Along with the fruity flavors are some light cracker flavors as well as spice of pepper and clove. As the flavor advances, some of the fruity flavors decrease being replaced by bubblegum as well as a bit of yeasty banana. Toward the end some hop flavors also join the flavor profile with them being composed mainly of an earthy and citrus nature. The mix of flavors that is then left at the end of the taste, ends up leaving one with a somewhat clean and crisp BPA flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thin side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The thin body is nice for the crisp nature of the beer and with the average carbonation, which still supported the flavors nicely, creates a nice easy drinker. Overall – A fairly nice and easy drinking BPA. A good one to try.
