UPDATED: JUN 19, 2012 Bottle. The pour was a hazy golden yellow with an average sized (1-2 finger) white frothy head that reduced slowly, down to a heavy film with a large collar which possessed some excellent sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a funky barnyard Belgian yeast and a light grain malt with notes of honey, citrus (lemon), toffee, a mild fruitiness and a slight alcohol scent. The taste was lightly sweet with a malty citrus note in the beginning, and then became very yeasty and a bit sour with a hint of green apple and a slight peppery alcohol tinge towards the end. The flavor lasted an average duration following the swallow, with a nice mild fruity funky yeast taste left behind. Mouthfeel was light in body and creamy in texture with a mild carbonation. Overall a very good Belgian Ale with a nice fruity citrus presence, that along with a good mix of yeast and alcohol helped make sure that no one flavor was so overpowering that it overshadowed any other. This brew was very tasty and rather refreshing for a beer that has such a high ABV…

BOTTLE 33 CL. Clear golden, giant white head. Beautiful aroma with notes of white grapes, honey, green pepper, some spicy alcohol. The taste is much more simple - pale malts with alcoholic dryness, spicy. Gets a bit watery in the finish. Decent.

Bottle, 8%. Faint hay and grain aroma. Hazy golden colour. Good stable white head. The flavour is fruity and vinous at first. Gets acidic, clean and once again fruity in the finish. OK clean. Very high carbonation but pleasant enough.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of hops and flowers, with notes of malt and hints of yeast. Bitter, hoppy flavour with fruity and spicy notes and touches of malt. Bitterish and acetic aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Quite reasonable.

I expected more. I like the color and taste but it is not the best one in the style. I liked the 8% alchool.

33 cl bottle at home. Clear, blonde colour with a large white head. Aroma: lots of spicy, peppery hop with a yeast and malt background. Taste: slight sweetness then lots of dry, bitter hoppiness. Finish is dry and bitter with lots of peppery hop. Strong, but balanced with lots of hopping. Pretty good.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Some esters, some lemon on the aroma. OK in the mouth, a little dirty perhaps. Some peppery spicy hop on the finish. It’s ok but nothing special.

Belgian strong Ale isn’t usually my style. To me, the aroma reminded me of farm, and they practically always taste what they smell. This one is no exception, but for the first time, I kind of enjoy it. Maybe a bit harsh with the heavy (after)taste of alcohol (yep, it could be painful in the morning).

Strong aroma. Thick white head. Metallic taste. Alcohol is really noticeable. Creamy in the mouth. Cheap logo design.
