Lucky Bucketís Original American IPA begins with a nice malt bill that lets the brew stand up to the mountain of hops added later. After the boil, the hot wort (the beer before itís really beer) is fired through a hop back, a unique four-barrel stainless steel tank filled with a gratuitous amount of raw flower Amarillo, Centennial, and Cascade hops, extracting the aromatic oils and flavor of the hops. Followed with additional dry hopping in the fermenter, the end result is a big, well-balanced West Coast-style IPA with terrific hop flavor and aroma.

Bottle. Poured pale amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma was tropical fruit, grapefruit, some resinous hops, some caramel. Flavor was grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, some pine and bready, caramel malt. Moderately bitter. Pretty good West Coast IPA.

Trade with Aurelius - thanks!- new state - Nebraska! -12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, off white, thick and foamy head that leaves a thick coat of lacing. Aroma is spruce-like and resiny with a touch of floral notes. Full-bodied flavor with some initial bittersweet citrus, some minty rye and some pomegranate and apricot sweetness. Thick sticky mouthfeel with just enough spritz to keep it interesting. Duly impressed.

Foggy, orange beer with a thin tapioca head which clings to the side of the glass. Squat, California-style longneck, retro label. Floral, sweet aroma, grapefruit zest, hops and a little sulphur or egginess. Mineral front, sturdy American hopping, a little sour, fairly sweet, pineapple and grapefruit flavors. Moderate, citrus pith bitter finish. Mouthy brew with fine-grained carbonation. Not as aggressive as a lot of the IPAís out there, more on the APA end of the spectrum. BOTM club selection for Dec 2012 - Thanks, Uncle Doug!

Hazy burnt orange, 2 finger head. Nose is fecal matter / baby diaper. Hint of oranges. Very high bitterness in the taste, very piney, resinous. Hint of tangerine peels. Interesting but not all that great.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2013 Received from beer of the month club. Burnt orange with nice lasting head. Strong aroma of citrus and other hops. First few sips, i found the beer to be well balanced with significant dry hopped citrus flavor. A few sips later the strong bitterness flavor came through. Overall, very impressed. Represents west coast IPAís well.

Bottle: † Dirty amber, large rocky white head, splotchy lacing. † Big sweet ruby red grapefruity citursy nose. † A bit candyish. † Sweet citrusy hops up front, not too bitter, with a bit of candyish powdered sugar background. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † Pithy background, citrusy, ruby red grapefruit, candyish, powdered sugar all on the exit. † I could do without that powdered sugar as it seems too candyish, but otherwise this was a very citrusy and not too bitter IPA. † I can certainly dig it!

12oz bottle $1.69. Bright orange color, sticky lace and a fluffy head. Smells slightly hoppy, nothing overwhelming. Flavor definitely has a lot of hops but itís almost all bitterness. I was really surprised by how bitter this was but I liked it. Still, I would have preferred a little more diversity in the hop flavors. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-31-2011 01:51:32

Bottle @ Bradís house. Pours a dark golden orange appearance with an off white head. Herbal, grapefruity, fairly floral, citrusy nose. A bit tangy, light woody, grapefruity, quite herbal hoppy, somewhat toasty malty flavor. Pretty decent.
