COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lucky Bucket Pre‐Prohibition Lager has an updated craft brewer’s twist as its signature: it’s dry‐hopped with a fresh blend of aromatic hops. The dry hopping schedule is a unique hop mix that was derived from numerous tests and private samplings. The resulting blend includes aromatic Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo hops.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear medium copper with a one finger white head. Fairly good head retention and lacing with the head hanging around for awhile. Aroma of cooked vegetables and some corn. There is really a lot of DMS here and I’m not sure if it is intended or not. Some caramel and grassy hops are buried in the background. The flavor thankfully has less in the way of DMS but does bring along an odd, sour tartness that really detracts from the flavor. Some toffee and bready malt along with hay in the background but again I feel like there are too many off-flavors up front. Pretty watery mouthfeel but that is not out of line with a beer that is only 4.5% Overall, I’m not really impressed. If this was cleaned up a little it could really shine.

Tap @ Lucky Bucket. Pours a clear orangish brown appearance with a thin brown head. Caramel, sweet malty, a bit chewy, burnt bready aroma. A bit grainy, cardboard (not in an oxidized manner), caramel flavor. Kind of strange but ok.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Malty, caramel, very grassy, sour cabbage notes too. Very pretty russet/amber color. Light caramel, some sour tang and roughness in mid, and nice hop tinges in final. Thin body. Okay. Extremely grassy and full of flavor. A lager that goes a bit too far, maybe. The sourness kinds of detracts from the overall experience.

I agree with Scott, I don’t get why the rating is so low... maybe they had it on tap??? Anyways, I like these guys, solid everyday beers at reasonable prices. About 400 yen, 4.5% bottle from Rakuten. It’s a lovely amber gold color, thick head and a mildly fruity aroma. Great flavor! The malts are balanced by some fruitiness and a dry finish. A beer that shows what a lager should be. I liked it. For a lager it is quite good.

Great beer! I don’t know how there can be such a low rating for this beer. I think it is great!

Thanks to Cavie for sharing this bottle. Gold with a white head. Aroma is grass and bready malt. Flavor is the same with some orange citrus notes. Thin, watery mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a golden color with a large head. Nose is metallic and grainy. Taste is flat, tasteless and outright undrinkable. A selection from a craft club, unfinisihable.

Pours a clear copper with a white head and metallic, grainy aroma. Taste is of grains and light malt, while watery and quite flavorless overall, pass

No. Now I need 73 more letters. Clear orange. Funky aroma. Bitter funky taste. Will not buy again.
