COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Using all organic ingredients and fermenting our black lager at ale temperatures, we’ve given this traditional German Schwarzbier style a decidedly California twist. The result is a truly flavorful and extremely drinkable black beer. Enjoy, and stay Lucky!

This beer was a shared tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat This poured the appropriate black you would expect from a Schwarzbier and raised a big bubbled and robust head. The nose was roasted malts and some treacle. Medium in body it had the smooth clean lager mouth feel. The flavor was roasted malts and the treacle like the aroma. Right on the mark for this style beer and very easy drinking and enjoyable.

Bomber from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. This poured black and had a really big beige head. It bordered on being a gusher. But the foam was very light and drinking through it was not a problem. A roasted aroma. The flavor was also roasted notes with treacle. Some cooked brown sugar. A fizzy feel that eventually left my tongue numb. I needed a lighter beer tonight and this fit the bill nicely. It was flavorful and interesting.

Draft @ SF Beer Week Opening Celebration 2013, Concourse Exhibition Center, San Francisco, CA. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty weak bready caramel aroma. Slightly roasted malty caramel flavor with weak hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty caramel finish.

Poured into a lager glass. A thin, tan head on a black body. The aroma is rich, roasted malt. Pretty good, if one-sided. The taste is roasted malt at first, then a big kick of lemon bitterness. It seems a little disjointed but I like it. The texture is smooth with moderate carbonation. Not a bad black lager.

My favorite organic beer. Dark, malty, hoppy. Surprisingly flavorful for an organic. Great brew!

Pours a almost jet black color with an almost creamy tan head.Has a nice sent of coffee. The flavor was kind of a let down with a water down coffee malt taste. The body was medium with a dry coffee finish.Overall it was okay.

This is a really dark beer especially for a lager, but is an absolutely beautiful garnet color under a strong light. Woody, chocolate and slight sour aromas topped with a medium tan head that is surprisingly voluminous and persistant. Unfortunately, those sour aromas follow in the taste and I don’t think these are intended. While it doesn’t seem to be the infected sour flavor, I think this is due to the fermenting at higher temperature (which I’ve tasted in homebrews before). While the sour dominates, there is some nice light milk and dark chocolate flavor in there and these actually hang around in the aftertaste which makes this a lot more drinkable. Finishes very dry with a woody, husky quality.

Pours black with a huge tan head that won’t go away and a treacle aroma. There is a smooth dark malt flavor with a very dry finish. Easy to drink.

22oz bottle with the red label. Black Cali Common, eh? Massively audible release of carbonation when uncapped. Pours with mostly head (medium brown, large bubbles, huge in volume, creamy, medium lasting) over a near black to deep cola hued body. Some brownish red-highlight that make it seem pretty clear. Retention is pretty solid. Roasty, bready, malty and lightly leathery aromas. A touch smokey, earthy, spicy. Bacon, jerky. Medium apple like esters. Brown sugar. Flavors are dry, roasty, bready, medium crisp, estery, raw apple, low acetaldehyde, smokey, leather, medium roast, grainy, fruity. Resembles a black version of Shelenkra (sp?) ’s Helles, albeit with a few more yeast biproducts. Dry, lively, somewhat small bodied. A bit crisp. Pretty sessionable. Feels smaller than 5.5% with minimal heaviness. Pretty solid.
