3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich ruby with a good head. Sweet and honeyed to the nose with powdery chocolate/oatmeal notes. A burst of rich, dark fruit malt gives way to light chocolate, all carried by a thick oaty texture.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Hawthorne location - clear ruby pour - fairly sweet and malty, with notes of plum, raisin, toffee - none of the expected earthy, smoky character - a light bit of spiciness - finish is lingering toffee and a touch of tobacco - light lingering spice - smooth and drinkable.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught. Poured deep burnt red iwth thin head. Faint aroma of caramel and malt. A little date, toffee and caramel in the rather thin flavour, not the body you’d expect in a Scottish. Finish was thin, but still pleasant. I wonder if this was just served too cold.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nitro @ their NW location... Poured deep ruby with a thick beige head. Aroma of faint, leafy malt and some berries. Thick, foamy mouthful and roasted malt flavors. Hops were mild while other sweet, cocoa-like flavors dominated. Really smooth and easy to drink in big gulps. Little bit of noticeable alcohol in the finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at the Concordia Ale House. Black with a thick, creamy tan head. Nice nose of black bread and brown bread. Creamy, lightish body. Mid-palate, unfortunately, is undeveloped. Not much flavor happening here, and that leaves the mouthful too sweet and watery to really succeed. It’s a clean and flawless *brew*, but as a beer it’s kind of a non-entity due to the timidity of the malt bill. Would like to see this one come back more in balance and a bit bolder next year, and take the holidays by storm.
