COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stairway has a honey gold complexion with a grassy, citrus floral aroma. It has a sharp, sweet, full bodied taste. Unusual use of Sladek lagering hops, building a large cult following. Awarded silver for the SIBA regional beer for strong bitters 2011.

Another of Octo’s ’sharing bottles’, 24/11/12. Bright gold, bright white collar. Aroma of honey and Madeira cake. Hints of sponge cake and Refreshers with a slight soapy bitterness and cornflake afters. Touches of grass and pastry. Inoffensive, well-constructed, doesn’t beg another.

Cask conditioned at The Kings Head, Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Pale gold with white head. Ligh, sharp, relatively hoppy beer, some citrus, some orange hints. Bitterness, dry. Quite pleasant.

(bottle) pours a clear golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of oranges, light gooseberries and nettles, with notes of straciatella and caramel. flavour is mostly the same, with dominant notes of herbal hops and a hint of bread crusts. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Had the pleasure of visiting this brewery and its visitor centre in the summer of 2011: this review however is of a hand pulled pint in the excellent Cock Hotel, Wellington on 2nd Feb 2012. Almost lager looking: pale golden, clear and bright with a thin snow white head on top. One sniff tells you its an ale though, not a lager: waves of citrusy hop esters fill the nose along with freshly cut grass. I thought it might taste a bit weak from its looks but I was mistaken: good flavoursome blend, hop frontage and rear with a bready malt centre. Very easy to drink and refreshing.
