Gold Medal Winner at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival. Silver Medal Winner at the 2010 World Beer Cup. This handsome ale is created by balancing a selection of crystal and caramel malts, then moderately hopped resulting in a rich, full flavored satisfying brew.

A: The beer pours a light amber color with a fair amount of orange and a creamy off-white head. S: There is a fair amount of citrus hop character with some pine notes to it. A light floral character to go along with toasted malt and a slight sweetness of toffee and bread. T: Lots of malt flavor. Heavy on the bread and toast with a bit of toffee and caramel. The hop flavors are not quite as intense as the aromas. Citrus, grass, and floral notes with a light bitterness. M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: Not a bad red ale. I liked the aroma a bit better than the nose, however.

Poured from a can purchased at Total Wine. I’ve had this one at the brewery in Flagstaff. Beaver Street makes great beer. Aroma: sweet, rich. Smells close to a lager, but the red/amber ale comes through. Appearance. More of an amber than a red. Virtually no head on the pour. Taste: full character followed by a bitter aftertaste; a little drier than most reds. Palate: great volume in the mouth; craft comes through Overall: Order this one again. Right up there with my favorite reds.

12 oz. can from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy deep amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Aroma is faint toasted malt. Pitiful! Faint spotty lacing. Flavor is light hops and light caramel malt. The hops linger in the finish. Light to medium body. This beer was a disappointment. Still, it’s worth a try.

12 ounce can picked up in Page Arizona. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma is dusty sweet caramel. The flavor is similarly dominated by sweet caramel malts, some light bitter hops, quite pleasant. Dry. Nice.

Nice red color with white head. Decent lacing but not lasting. Aroma is decent, malty and sweet. Flavor has a bit of cardboard. A bit too much for me. Malty with a bit of hops but just a bit off.

A light copper amber color with a good head that reduces to a few spattered pancake remnants. Smells of sweet caramel and pine. Full nectar with good carbonation. Malty with mild sweetness. There is a defined resin character that clings as the beer bitters up on the finish.

12oz can. Rating #15. Clear medium amber in color with a very small white head, it didn’t seem like there was a lot of carbonation based on the lack of any pop when I opened the can. Pretty big piney hop nose, it took me a little bit by surprise actually, light malt aroma and a tad bit of toast. Flavor is nice and hippy as well which I am really enjoying, very nicely balanced, real nice brew. (1598)

12oz can. Orange-brown, cloudy. Thin, creamy off-white head. Respectable fruity amber malt aroma, cut with some citrus hop tones. Somewhat watery mouthfeel, this is a pretty inoffensive, straightforward Amber. Doughy caramel toffee tones. Soapy, earthy, citrus hop balance. On the fuller side of medium bodied. Certainly not memorable, but OK.
